It was a really fun, beautiful movie. I mean super colorful; I don't want to sound like a numbskull or anything but I was like "Wow! oooooooooooooh! Pretty colors!" the whole time :P

Just fun! I don't know how else to describe it. Most movies try too hard, even when they succeed; this one just does what it seeks out to do and does it extremely well.

*Has anyone actually seen "How to be a Latin Lover"? It looks terrible and I don't know anyone that has. I'm wondering if it's one of those gross movies only middle-school kids go see.

It was good but only gripe i have is Rodan was a far more interesting character and villian than Ego. That isnt to say Kurt Russell didnt do a good job, Ego is just stupid.

@R3FURBISHED: And being that it had already opened last week in some markets overseas, the overall take so far is an estimated $425 million. Not bad for a movie that has been open only 2 weeks total.

Edit: Just got out of a showing here, and like the first, it was a fun movie.

Was okay. But I think the Marvel formula is getting stale.

Freaking amazing movie. I actually liked it a bit better than the original, the comedy and character development in this movie was excellent. Plus the action scenes were phenomenal. All around just an incredibly fun movie.

This movie deserves all the success that it got and then some.

I'm sure DC fans are cringing evermore over MCU's continued critical and financial success.

Really? I think the formula is wearing thin now. And the forced laughter of Drax was on the annoying side. Story was okay.....not great. I mean it was an okay movie but not that great. The first was better....but then that one was fresh.

I hope so, but given Warner Bros.' track record so far, I got a feeling this is gonna be another movie with wasted potential.

I agree, but under the grand scheme of Marvel vs. DC, I know DC fans are just waiting for the day Marvel's success topples over as a form of spite to compensate for the fact their DCEU movies get shat on by critics and audiences, which is apparent that toppling will not be happening with this movie. It was fun but I still like the original better. I'm also disappointed they had to kill Ego the Living Planet. In the comics he doesn't die but settled with a truce to not eat up the universe. I thought he'd be a lot of fun to explore as a character in future Marvel movies.

They dumbed Drax's character waaaay down. Like, all t he way down. No further backstory, no depth of emotion, no motivations beyond, "I'm part of the team so I'm supposed to be here." He was just a vehicle for one-liners.

That being said, these are popcorn flicks and I don't expect much more out of them than mindless fun. This delivered on that front, and I'm OK with that. Really, as long as it's a movie I can convince my son to watch in place of the latest Smurfs movie or Alvin and the Chipmunks movie then it's a win in my universe.

Have to see it.

Along with a few others like Fast 8. But Guardians is a priority.

Uh yeah big effing spoilers here about the end of the film, don't read unless you have seen Guardians 2.

I think the real problem is that the series may be moving to an overall endpoint or at least a reboot of sorts and there wouldn't be time to utilize Ego much more without alluding to more movies that they will no longer have time to tell. Personally, I really liked how they allowed Peter to kill his dad and lose is dad without it being the same person all in five minutes. I thought that really worked for this film.

@mattbbpl: I agree with you about Drax, but he definitely made me laugh. Really he and Gamora switched places in that regard for this film. I felt like the first film Gamora was the one who largely got screwed out of character development, where as here I felt Drax got left out.

The movie was a guilty pleasure. I think how you well you liked the movie is your expectations going on.

I agree the MCU formula is a little played out, it's been like this for awhile for me. I'd like to see some more serious movies. Dark Knight was great.

Just saw it yesterday. I really didn't like it. It seems like they just mashed together a bunch of "cool looking" moments instead of concentrating on making a good movie. Even worse, the best moments were already spoiled in the trailers, Also, the characters lacked so much of the personality that was in the first movie. And even the choices in music were so much weaker and didnt lend themselves to the energy and fun of the first Guardians. Disappointed

I just saw it. Decent move. A little cheesy at times, but entertaining. Definitely worth purchase. Think suicide squad but worthwhile.
