Halloween was yesterday obviously, I was too busy watching the movies. Do any of you like the movies and if so which was the best and worst? There are also tons of rumors around the future of the franchise. Rob Zombie made a remake of the first two and there is some rumblings of a 3rd by him; a past rumor was a direct sequel to the last movie in the original timeline Halloween: Resurrection, which was canned in favor of the remake.

In your opinion which would you want? A 3rd Rob Zombie movie, another in the main timelines, a reboot or just let the series die?

I didn't like Rob Zombie's first two films, but I thought he did a great job with his Halloween remake and actually looked forward to the sequel...then back to disappointment as his follow-up Halloween rmake ended up being poo. I also have to mention I thought he ruined his Halloween remake of the first film when he released it on DVD, I liked the theatrical cut, but for some reason they only had this available on 4:3 DVD and the widescreen DVD was the Director's Cut which IMO was only called that to sell more, the significant difference between the two was the escape scene from the hospital, I liked the theatrical one better because they're basically transporting him by armed guard and he's much bigger in this film, and he basically breaks his restraints and friggin slaughters everyone, but in the Director's Cut it's the most stupid escape scene, he's basically in his cell painting, two drunk staffers decide to rape a girl in his cell and he basically uses the opportunity to escape. Anyhow, Halloween 3 remake would be interesting, though I don't remember it having anything to do with Michael Myers, and I'm sure Rob Zombie would find a way to make it even more disturbing, I'd especially like to see his version of the watch the magic pumpkin scene.

They should let it rest for a bit. Slasher movies aren't that popular right now, and the Gorno genre is currently dying out, so right now no single type of horror movie is all that popular. They should wait until a new Scream type movie comes out that makes the slasher genre interesting to people again. The worst in the series was the one with Buster Rhymes in, a lot of people would probably say the 3rd is the worst as it didn't even have Michael Myers, but at least it attempted something new. I thought the idea of making a different horror film each year called Halloween wasn't a bad idea. It just didn't turn out very good, and the fans wanted Michael Myers.

The third got cult status though, is still popular with a lot of people. The one with Busta Rhymes sucked, I hate how he kicked Myers butt sometimes and Myers just walked away when he bad mouthed him. I like 1, 4 and 5 the most. Danielle Harris was so cute.

It should continue off of Halloween 2. Forget 4, 5, The Curse of Michael Myers (I guess considered the 6th), H20, and especially Resurrection. I thought the idea of the Thorn in the Curse of Michael Myers as being the motive behind the killings was intriguing but the movie itself was terrible and I bet Paul Rudd wishes people would forget about that movie. Some people say that was what made Michael Myers scary; was having no motive but if they chose some sort of motive, I wish it would expand on that.

It wasn't necessarily bad, but it's not nearly as good as the first two.

That's fine, they didn't need to be as good. I still enjoyed them, even if they did lose something from the first.

You do know that H20 was a direct squeal to Halloween 2 and ignored everything that happened from 3 to 6 entirely.

Was it? I guess I thought 4 was. Oh well. Still a terrible movie.

I liked the original movies, especially the very 1st one. The remake was decent, although I haven't seen the sequel.

Ressurection and all the other spin offs were utter cap though

My favorite is Part 3. It was just a really quirky and weird - and good - Halloween movie. Part 4 was good, the main girls did a good job with the character. Part 1 has always seemed kind of average to me and 2 was crummy. By part 5 the thing was just Mystery Science Theater 3,000 material and had completely turned into a parody of itself by Resurrection.

They should just let it die already.

^ Especially the Rob Zombie ones. They tried to give Michael some "personality"

Halloween 1/2 are the only real ones. H2O was a bad character-driven continuation of that story. They should just let it die before Rob Zombie reincarnates all of them with more poorly-shot scenes.

[QUOTE="JDWolfie"] Was it? I guess I thought 4 was. Oh well. Still a terrible movie.

Both were. Sounds odd I know, but after 3 they asked Jamie Lee Curtis to come back for 4 and she declined and asked her character to be killed off in instead. Jamie Lloyd is Laurie;s daughter and they explained it as Laurie was killed in a car accident I believe. Jamie Lee's character was dead in 4 thru 6. So when they convinced her to come back they made it as a direct squeal to Halloween 2 and to the annoyance of the fans pretended 3 thru 6 never happened. Halloween 4 was pretty good, 5 was ok but not as good..Then the series went down hill hitting a low with Resurrection.

I don't think anybody liked Resurrection. I would be on board with a reboot just as long as the right guy did it.

Only the first two are worth watching. I have the Rob Zombie one and it wasn't as good as the first one. They need to let the movies die.

Rewatched parts 1 through 8 not too long ago. Hadn't seen them in a while. I have a certain fondness for almost all the Halloween films, even the ones I consider to be not so good which are parts 3, 5, 6, and 8. The only one I really don't care for at all would be Rob Zombie's Halloween 2.

I liked 1, 2, 5 and H20 (7) a lot. 4 was okay but started out way too slow, and 6 was kinda weird. Resurrection/8 was okay.

A-MEN, brother!!! Those Rob Zombie movies were such a let-down after the derivative homage brilliance of "1000 Corpses", which I thought was a great tip of the hat to Hooper. The "Halloween" movies he did were dull, and ultimately lost what was so special about Carpenter's original.

I've only seen one of the movies and that was when I was 8. I don't remember which one it was.
