I went in expecting an okay-ish action film with over the top CGI, but Hancock delivered on more fronts than I could have hoped.

It was very humurous at some points. Some brilliant one-liners delivered by Will Smith. A lot of funny situations too.

Amazing acting. Even the little kids were cute and believable. Will Smith is the ultimate badass in this movie. The leading lady is hot, and very realistic. The actors in this film were spot on and captured their roles more than I would have hoped.

CGI + musical score delivered some VERY uplifting moments. Simply watching Hancock take off put a smile on my face. More intense scenes were aided with very realistic CGI and complimented with inspiring music. I don't want to oversell it and make you see it with too high expectations, so i'll leave it at that.

The story is where you love it or hate it. There are some notable twists, and the story takes a path you wouldn't have expected. Depending on how you like where the producers took the story of John Hancock, you will either like or dislike this movie. I, personally, really liked it. I wont say anything, except that I enjoyed the story. Quite a bit. It gives...er..nevermind.

Final thoughts...a lot of action, over the top CGI, a lot of charm brought out by the clever and whitty script and brilliant acting.

This movie DESERVES you're 10 bucks. Go see it, and just expect what the trailers give you, and I guarentee you're expectations will be exceeded. It's a great summer film to see with your friends, but for me, it's one for the books. I really enjoyed it, and will watch it again, either in theatres (again), or on dvd.

ONE FINAL NOTE: watch it in theatres. the visual quality warrants your 10 bucks to see it on a 50 foot screen. Don't settle for some crappy pirated version selling for 4 bucks in some asian convenience store.

Despite your glowing review, I won't be seeing this. I personally can't stand Will Smith. He plays the same role in every movie...a cocky, smart-ass.

I am sure it's only decent. I mean, last time I trusted video game nerds with a movie, I left with a bitter taste in my mouth. I am talking about Transformers of course.

Considering how cheap a trip is to the theater, i think Hancock is good enough for a cheap thrill. It's a good summer as far as i'm concerned. Dark Knight, Iron Man, Indiana Jones, The Hulk, Wall-E (surprised about that one), Get Smart, etc. I'm making it a goal to see as many movies as possible. Granted, Hancok isnt on the top of the list, but after the others it may still be worth seeing, if not just for an excuse to go to the theater...again.

For those who loved Hancock, as well as I Am Legend - maybe that's where it goes wrong for me. I greatly disliked I Am Legend, and was overall not amused by it.

Where do you live? Doesnt your country or atleast the European Union have some sort of anti-trust laws to prevent monopolies? Sounds really crappy for there to be only one cinema company in your entire country.

That's funny, I thought Handcock was pretty disappointing. The story was uninteresting until the end. There were a few funny parts, I'll give you that, but I thought the movie was mediocre at best. The ending was the only good part.

Just got back from seeing it and I have to agree, HANCOCK is truly amazing. I havent had this much fun in a movie theater in a LONG time. It mad me laugh of out, had a good story, and a little sadness to it. It was amazing. 10/10. This is my OPINION. The movies I seen this year are Cloverfield, SemiPro,Jummper,IronMan, and Hulk. Also, I pay 12 dollars because I go to Manhattan.

I saw it today, and loved it. 1st movie in a long time I wish was longer to flesh out more of the characters. Hope it rakes in the $$$ so they'll make another. The theater was packed, went with 4 others and we had to sit apart and many times the whole theater busted out laughing. Very good movie.

thisguy51

I second that. It starts off as a B grade action/comedy movie about Hancock becoming a competent super hero and they resolve that plot half way through and carry on with this dramatic twist that leads nowhere. The story was so disjointed it didn't really have any sense of direction.

And I agree about the acting, Will Smith is the only one who gets the screen time but the comedy seems to be written around one liners for cheap laughs. Let us not forget how bad the character development is, with this superhero with a troubled past trying to get his life in order, which as I mentioned, they abandon all that development and characterisation from the first half. His whole premise for being a lousy superhero was because of his troubled past. That's deep. As deep as a puddle. There was also the pointless side plot involving Michel the school bully. What was the point of Hancock's relationship with the guy's son? It was pointless and went nowhere.

You've got all your cliche superhero scenes with the car chase, the bank robbery, the big fight in mid air, lots of stuff being smashed and exploding, the dramatic and sad ending that magically resolves itself to be all warm and happy at the end complete with a nice little ribbon. They could have cut the ending off by 10 minutes and left it on a tragic ending that would have at least been conflicting but thoughtful.

Indeed. If you want a movie with a crazy ass storyline, watch this instead. PLUS, Angelina Jolie shows skin :)

Win/win situation.

I've read that Wanted is murder porn for anti-social losers. Basically, that Wanted is what teenaged idiots thought that Figh tClub was before starting their own backyard fight clubs.

Are you insulting Fight Club there..?

[QUOTE="hell_blazer899"]a mediocre rating, it's better to watch superman reruns than spendin the extra cash. Who's with me?Tolwan

How much is it where you live?

On weekends it's 5-6 bucks.

How strange I work at the theaters and the majority of people that would come out of the auditorium would say the movie blowed. I myself saw it and I wholeheartedly agree with them.

Brilliant acting? Not even. The majority of the film moves at breakneck speed. No one but Will Smith even gets a chance to show talent. And even he doesn't deliver. He says a bunch of cheesy, not "brilliant", one liners. Like in the trailer for example when he's asking the girl if he has permission to touch her body, "it isn't sexual". What is that? I thought it was stupid.

After watching him blast off into the sky for the third time, it starts to get old.

The musical score also wasn't all that memorable either. They played Ludacris' "Move *****". It just made me uncomfortable. Not uplifting.

And the movie takes you through a single twist and even that isn't all that surprising. The trailer revealed that he has to become a genuine superhero and guess what? It happens. After that your left wondering, "well? Is anything else going to happen?" and then yes, something happens but its totally lame and expected. I also thought the ending was just ridiculous.

It's not full price for me. Go get the crappy pirated version sold for 4 bucks in some asian conveniance store instead.

Red-XIII

You've got all your cliche superhero scenes with the car chase, the bank robbery, the big fight in mid air, lots of stuff being smashed and exploding.

...it was a action superhero movie, of course it had that, all superhero movies do...

I saw it today, and loved it. 1st movie in a long time I wish was longer to flesh out more of the characters. Hope it rakes in the $$$ so they'll make another. The theater was packed, went with 4 others and we had to sit apart and many times the whole theater busted out laughing. Very good movie.btaylor2404

Oh, trust me, it's making more than enough money...
