*POTENTIAL SPOILERS*

Has anyone else seen this? I was pretty disappointed with it and practically got bored at certain times during the movie. I know it was trying to stay true to the book with the whole "camping in the forest for 50 pages" part, but dang. It almost felt like half the movie was just that part alone. Everything else seemed to go by so fast. It just didn't seem well balanced, and I think it's because they are leading up to Part 2 which will probably be 100% fast-paced. I don't mind drama or slow parts, but the dialogue in Harry Potter isn't anything amazing enough for a movie to warrant spending that much time with it.

I'll just paste what I said in the Deathly Hallows thread right below this one... I saw it at midnight! I really loved it! I didn't think I'd like it quite that much since I wasn't initially a big fan of the two-part format and the 7th book was by far my least favorite of the series, but I loved the movie. It was really well done. The visuals and cinematography were amazing, the acting was great (finally Emma Watson wasn't overacting her ass off, and Daniel Radcliffe was solid - everyone else was great as usual), the character development was very mature and solid, the adaptation (book to movie) was quite good, it was hilarious, etc. I loved the last ten minutes or so. Very engaging. Also, the last shot was very dynamic and a great note to end part one on. I can't wait for part two! Also, Dobby was amazing.

I thought it was boring. Most of the book was just talking, talking, and more talking. Part 2 will be awesome however. They need to fit all the other action into that movie. Can't wait :D

Glad you liked it. But did you really like the ending that much? Most of the people in my theater were like "aw, cmon! what the hell! etc, etc,"

Yeah I did. I loved it. Everyone in my theater stood up and clapped and cheered like mad. The final shot was incredibly dynamic, and the events leading up to it
I'm referring to Dobby dying and Harry burying him without the use of magic - sad and then beautiful/touching - one of my favorite parts of the book
really made it for me.

I was actually really disappointed in it. I thought it lost a lot of the whimsy and charm it had when it took place in Hogwarts. It was still good but not nearly as good as the last couple, IMO. :?

Yes, they all clapped. I saw it at the midnight premiere, and everyone gets pretty fired up at those. It received just as much applause and praise from the crowd as any of them, and I've seen all of them on either opening night or at the midnight premiere. And I thought it was excellent. It's either my second or third favorite of the HP movies.

Hadn't planned on seeing it. Stopped watching after the 3rd movie since that's where the books went downhill.

Yeah I saw it today and you could tell the masses here were disappointed. I haven't seen people clear out of a theater that fast ever. To me though, like I said, it just didn't do it for me. It didn't seem to have the same quality of the other ones. Kind of like this one was just mailed in. The reviews seem to not be nearly as good on this one either.

Hmmm that's interesting. I plan to see it again soon and I'll definitely pay attention to people's observations after it ends. I guess I just don't get it, but I'm sure that's because I liked it so much. I really think that it's one of the best. Most of the criticism I've read has been really dumb, though - "too much talking" or "not enough action" - it just sounds like a child with ADD complaining about it not being flashy enough, and I can't quite take that seriously.

My favorite of the all the Harry Potter movies so far was Goblet of Fire. In Deathly Hallows Pt.1 I was afraid it lost the charm of Hogwarts school as well. I miss that. Anyways there was not much else they could do for Pt.1. It was a build up to the fast-paced epic which is Deathly Hallows Pt.2.

I was so sad when Dobby died.

Emma Watson alone warrants a 2nd watch alone from me. :P

 Yeah I had no problem with the dialogue. I just think it's missing the whimsy and fantasy feel the others had. Supposedly this also had, by far, the lowest budget and I think it shows. I'm still really looking forward to part 2 though. :P

Yeah I will agree that it was less whimsical than the past movies. I did miss Hogwarts a bit, but then again I can really only blame that on the source material. Oh well. I ended up liking it a hell of a lot anyway. I'm sure part two will be amazing. :)

I thought the first 3 were toooo damn childish, drove me nuts, especially the movies.

My favourite was The half-blood prince because of the flash backs and detail about voldemort. awesome!

Might want to edit that part out about Dobby. I read the book but I forgot about that. Still some people might not have read it.

there was enough things you should of excepted that from the start. it was more of a comedy side of harry potter than the drama i had no problems with the other the ending of it which if you do say it put spoils alert and another part of it other than that its well balanced.

For me, it's not that there was too much talking or not enough action, but rather that the actual slow/talking parts were just plain boring. I don't know if it's because I already know what is going to happen, but I just don't find the dialogue or the acting anything amazing enough to warrant that much of a movie devoted to it. The dialogue worked well in the books, but to me it only transitions well into the films when they do shorter scenes involving it, like all the previous films did. Here, I think they went overboard, but that's more of the book's fault. It's not like Six Feet Under where the whole show is devoted to their relationships and interactions, but the acting and dialogue is so amazing that it is actually more interesting than you'd think.

Haha. I hate the fact that I already know what is going to happen though. I think I might have really enjoyed the films (minus this one) even more than I already have.
guys comon atleast respect and used spoliers if your going to talk about the movie some people want to seen it might be disspointed to find out what hapens on here rather themselfs. SilentSoprano

Or maybe we can get a spoiler tag on the title. :)

How do I do that? And I just realized there was a whole other topic about this, but it didn't show up under "Harry Potter" in the search bar.

Just edit the title with *spoiler warning*.

Da_lil_PimP

My favorite of the all the Harry Potter movies so far was Goblet of Fire. In Deathly Hallows Pt.1 I was afraid it lost the charm of Hogwarts school as well. I miss that. Anyways there was not much else they could do for Pt.1. It was a build up to the fast-paced epic which is Deathly Hallows Pt.2.

I was so sad when Dobby died.

Emma Watson alone warrants a 2nd watch alone from me. :P

Might want to edit that part out about Dobby. I read the book but I forgot about that. Still some people might not have read it.

Sorry about that. TC should should put spoilers in topic title since this is of course discussion about the movie.

For what I saw in that movie it should've been called "Emma Watson and the Deathly Hallows" not "Harry Potter" Whener she showed up there were some guys whistling and saying "Get em baby..yeah!! You know how to do it Woo hooo!!" A little annoying but fun nonetheless

yea but he never said anything really about the movie other than it was "borning" so it was not really a spoilers alert.

The naked Harry and Hermione didn't excite you enough lol? All the parents were probably having a hissy fit.

If you call 79% reviews and certified fresh from RT "mailed in" then you really need to lower your standards :P
(obviously your opinion is fine, I'm just talking about the reviews)

That part had many fans including me in the theater going "WTF?!".

Clearly it wasn't needed. I don't know why they put that in there because it was not in the book. I'm sure parents were outraged by that part.

No I know it's just it seemed like they were almost going by the book 100% and I don't remember that at all, but it made it more realistic as a fear of Ron's.

I think it was actually a good part to add because it made Ron's fears seem even more realistic and not so sugar-coated. The movie is rated PG-13 so it's not like they snuck it into a movie marketed just towards little kids.

No, I agree, but it was pretty close. I just think it's funny because some parents will probably be all angry and stuff.

It still seemed very forced to cater to the hormone driven teenieboppers though that are obsessed with her. :P

I assume you don't go to RT much then?
Harry Potter 1 - 78%
Harry Potter 2 - 82%
Harry Potter 3 - 90%
Harry Potter 4 - 88%
Harry Potter 5 - 78%
Harry Potter 6 - 83%
It definitely doesn't stand out from the series as being too poor. A 79% on RT is a very good score from critics.

well too bad its not a G movie its a PG-13 movie which means Paretial guidence and 13 years or older... people need to understand teens do this and its only a part of a fake lie in ron's mind. who wouldn't have that fear if you had emma as a friend since the begging i don't like her knew hair cut ... she looks like a freaking boy i hate that cut!
