Undeniably the best film in the series so far (I expect Part 2 to become the best). The best shot, acted, paced film out of them all. Loved the entire thing. I am reading online that some people didn't like it because after the fantastic beginning they thought the film got boring. Yeah, ok. Idiots. Oh, and I gotta give my man Dobby some love. Love that guy.

You seriously thought that was the best?!!? And the most well paced? Wow, I thought it had the worst pacing in the series.

Are you sure you watched the other films? I didn't see a whole lot of improvement in the acting in this one, they just happened to have more screen time for their emotions, and they basically fast forwarded through everything other than the ministry part and the whole forest trek. Whatever floats your boat though.

I copy/pasted that review from last night before this thread was created it. I am speaking to people on the IMDb boards. And did you read what I said before it? I was speaking only to the people who thought the film got boring after the beginning... If that was you, ok. But its just my opinion. I am not specifically calling anyone here and idiot.

I found nothing in the film to be boring at all, so my reasons to call people idiots are my own. Not the films or simply because I know other people have different opinions. It's my opinion of people that feel that way.

Well it's good to know that our differing opinion on a kids' movie makes us idiots to you. We can all sleep soundly knowing the movie was actually amazing. :)

I did enjoy it but yeah found it rather boring in some parts. I kept expecting something to happen but nope, let's sit in a tent, derp. From what I understand the second movie is supposed to have pretty much everything happening in it though I heard the ending is rather anti-climatic in the book.

No, the ending is absolutely amazing with great build-up and revelations.

The EPILOGUE is what is cheesy. The ending of the story has such an epic battle. With how great the action scenes turned out in Part 1, Part 2 is bound to be absolutely amazing and likely the best movie in the series.

Oh and I loved the movie but that was to be expected considering The Deathly Hallows is easily one of if not the BEST books I have ever read and IMO an absolutely incredible end to a great series. I actually felt a bit sad after finishing the Deathly Hallows because it was just this closure on a series I have been enjoying for years now.

Considering the whole plot of the book revolves around the story of the Deathly Hallows, no it wasn't that cheesy.

BTW anyone else think the part where they told the story of the Deathly Hallows in the movie was amazing? In general I think that fairy tale is great, and I loved the way they illustrated it on screen.

The people I saw it with and I thought it was pretty lazy of them when they could of gone live-action and done a whole flashback-esque sequence. I know it was a fairy tale story but still, it seemed so out of place for a Harry Potter movie.

[QUOTE="t3hrubikscube"]I'll just paste what I said in the Deathly Hallows thread right below this one... I saw it at midnight! I really loved it! I didn't think I'd like it quite that much since I wasn't initially a big fan of the two-part format and the 7th book was by far my least favorite of the series, but I loved the movie. It was really well done. The visuals and cinematography were amazing, the acting was great (finally Emma Watson wasn't overacting her ass off, and Daniel Radcliffe was solid - everyone else was great as usual), the character development was very mature and solid, the adaptation (book to movie) was quite good, it was hilarious, etc. I loved the last ten minutes or so. Very engaging. Also, the last shot was very dynamic and a great note to end part one on. I can't wait for part two! Also, Dobby was amazing.

This. I went at midnight, missed school on Friday and everything, and it was great. I went with my mom since that's always been our thing, and I would gladly do it again. I've been a fan of Harry Potter since the beginning and I can't believe it's almost all over. :(

I liked it , best one yet , but it feels like a movie cut in half , the snake scene was awesome , pretty funny with great acting and drama and some great action , Everybody cheered for dobby at the end when he says he is a free elf then guess what happens , silence reigned....

[QUOTE="Pirate700"]

[QUOTE="t3hrubikscube"] Yes, they all clapped. I saw it at the midnight premiere, and everyone gets pretty fired up at those. It received just as much applause and praise from the crowd as any of them, and I've seen all of them on either opening night or at the midnight premiere. And I thought it was excellent. It's either my second or third favorite of the HP movies.t3hrubikscube

Yeah I saw it today and you could tell the masses here were disappointed. I haven't seen people clear out of a theater that fast ever. To me though, like I said, it just didn't do it for me. It didn't seem to have the same quality of the other ones. Kind of like this one was just mailed in. The reviews seem to not be nearly as good on this one either.

Hmmm that's interesting. I plan to see it again soon and I'll definitely pay attention to people's observations after it ends. I guess I just don't get it, but I'm sure that's because I liked it so much. I really think that it's one of the best. Most of the criticism I've read has been really dumb, though - "too much talking" or "not enough action" - it just sounds like a child with ADD complaining about it not being flashy enough, and I can't quite take that seriously.

I was actually really really happy they kept the hiding in the woods bit going for as long as they did. My whole problem with a bunch of the movies is that it felt like the directors/writers had ADD. They always made sure to keep all the action and cut out almost any part of the story that wasn't absolutely necessary or action filled. The other part of my complaint was that the way they cut from scene to scene was almost always very sudden and abrupt. One moment you're in the Dark Forrest the next moment you're standing in Dumbledore's office and it was like that in almost every scene.

If you call 79% reviews and certified fresh from RT "mailed in" then you really need to lower your standards :P
(obviously your opinion is fine, I'm just talking about the reviews)

bballm10

For a movie of Harry Potter caliber, yeah, I'd definitely call a 79% mailing it in.

IT has a better score than HBP (7,1 ) this one is 7,2 or higher.

It boggles my mind that anybody could actually think that was the best film. It came as damn near incoherent at times. In their quest to cram everything in, they criminally rushed scenes and didn't give events proper context. And then there was the abrupt ending and the fact that the suspense they had been building up had no pay off whatsoever.

A decent movie, but easily one of the sloppiest Potter films. The only HP films worse than this one are the first two.

[QUOTE="t3hrubikscube"][QUOTE="Pirate700"]Yeah I saw it today and you could tell the masses here were disappointed.

This latest film had that feeling more than any other. They were constantly going from scene to scene with not much of a transition between the scenes. It felt jerky. It also had no narrative shape whatsoever. It felt like a bunch of parts stringed together with not much of an overarching narrative arc to pull them together, which is a direct consequence of the two movie split.

I really fail to see how one can be super happy that they dragged out the camping that long. I mean, if they would have cut down on the camping, maybe they could have actually given the audience more context and coherence. I mean, it felt like they were trying to get to one scene to the other as quicky as possible. Malfoy Manor andthe stuff that went down at Xeno Lovegood's house couldn't have been any more rushed.

I feel the same way, but apparently there are people who really like it, so I don't really understand.

i don't beleive this or agree with it any forum or way. you have to relized they couldn't show everything or they second part of the movie would be less... borning less action and acting... so they had to dull this one up in a way to go. and plus at the end of the movie in half blood prince harry already said he was not going to hogwarts next time. so it fits the flim well. even though he does a couple times.

WHY is John Williams still not scoring the films? Grr. :x The films just seem soulless without his music.

I absolutly LOVED it!

I have seen every Harry Potter movie, and I saw this one along with the majority of the other ones at Midnight for the premier.

I sat out in line for 8 hours to see it... it was worth it. The movie was absolutly amazing! The story itself was so true to the book and even with the time in the forest (Which, really wasn't that long honestly) the movie was fast paced and great. I am so excited for the last movie, but also not ready. I don't want to see the series end.

GreySeal9

Aren't the first two supposed to be the best seeing as how they stayed the closest to the books (both by the same director as far I know).

Staying close to the books/=/being the best.

The first two were generic and had no visual flair. Also, Chamber of Secrets dragged on and on and on. It was much too long and would have benefited from some streamlining.

The first two also don't have the highest Rotten Tamatoe averages. Critics didn't really warm up to the series until the 3rd film, which has the best average if I'm not mistake.

It was okay....not that captivating though. I realize they didn't have much to work with considering the book....but it didn't have much action. The series needs action.

Waited in line for two hours Friday night, I enjoyed it, but people were clapping, and really that's just completely unnecessary.

I don't think it does. Though it needs some, but it doesn't rely on it.
