"I don't see how anyone of Hispanic heritige could be a Republican. Ok? No need to say more."

Ried

wow. First the "Negro Dialect" thing, now this.

Also, the dems. Robert Byrd, head wizard of the KKK. Racist comments from Harry Reid. And they accuse Republicans of being the racists.

Yeah, I'm not really sure that's quite on par with the "Negro dialect" thing.

I wouldn't really call that racist, just more of a stupid statement.

But I don't have much respect for what he says at all..

Personally I hate Harry Reid. I live in Nevada and will be voting against him. This however I don't find racist. Just a really ignorant statement.

I wouldn't go so far as to call it racist, but that comment was definitely stupid.

I think instead of saying, "No need to say more.", he should have said why he believes that... Maybe mention republican policies that people of hispanic heritage would disagree with...

Thats right. At first I lurked, not sure about the irony you were refering too, but that's correct. It reminds me of a time a few months ago I was in Y!A and there was a question asking "But doesn't she[Governor Jan Brewer] look like a racist?" I raged so hard. How exactly does a racist look, I asked her.

Was this taken out of contest. The last time that republicans accused democrats of racism, it turned out to not only be taken out of context, but it was actually never said. It was pieced together to be used against them. Anyway, I don't like the guy, he's been very spineless in congress. Unfortunately there was no primary opponent and his election opponent is one of the nuttiest people I've ever seen.

Cool. Technically I live in Henderson (Green Valley to be specific). Born and raised here. I can't really imagine living anywhere else.

I am voting for that nutty person just so that Harry Reid will have one more vote against him. Funny enough thats basically the motto out here in Nevada now. Anything but Reid. Thats how Sharon Angle will get elected if she does. People won't look at her stance on issues they just do not want Reid elected again.

I lived most of the time in Vegas down in Henderson. Mostly off College and Horizon area. I moved near Summerlin for awhile as well. I miss Vegas. Pahrump is very boring.

Thats a good point actually. Might have to rethink my position but I still want to vote against Harry :)

Regarding specific issues, Reid believes that Roe vs. Wade should be overturned and in 1999, he voted against an amendment that explicitly expressed support for Roe v. Wadewikipedia
Regarding same-sex marriage, Reid has stated he believes "...marriage should be between a man and a woman". He voted in favor of the Defense of Marriage Act but against the Federal Marriage Amendmentwikipedia
A lot of his political positions seem to stem from Christian dogma, which is heavily in favor of conservative ideology.

I guess it would have made more sense in context, which I speculate would be about harsh immigration laws. Though, it does seem pretty darn bad.

you don't even know if politicians support the things they say, to begin with. and most aren't racist, anyway. I can see how they [Hispanics] could be [Republican]. but the Republican party isn't the most pro-Hispanic party out there.

Hmm. Well this is news to me. I, too have learned something to night. Well however socially conservative he is, he sure does a darn good time making up for it in the government/fiscal side of things.

We have different reasons, but mutual agreements are nice still.
