Has a friend of yours ever betrayed your trust?

For me yeah. I told my "friend" my greatest secret and a few weeks later I found out she was making fun of it and bashing me for it. Sucks because this was the first time I told anyone. Needless to say we are no longer friends. Since then I have found it difficult to trust someone.

What about you guys? Ever had something like this happen?

Not to a huge extent, but there has been a few times where something has occured where nothing seriously bad happened, but enough where that friendship won't be normal ever again.

Well a category is fair I suppose. It has something to do with my family. Has lasted for years.

I had been living with a girl for several years when one of my closest friends had a threesome with her and another girl. We'd been close mates for over 10 years, but haven't spoken to him since (8 years). There's a few other things involved which makes it all a little twisted, but hey that's life I guess. Couldn't believe I wasn't even invited :P

Yes, there was a thing where you had to guess how many suckers were in a jar. I told him a number and he submitted it. It turned ou to be right and when I asked if I could have some because I gave him the answer he said no.

Lead me on for months, went on a nice summer vacay with a 'freindly' neighbor and well I plan to boycott her now.

yes. i had a friend that i was very close to. He once told me that he cherished our friendship. He eventually found a girlfriend and proposed to her waay too early. (3 months of dating if i remember her correctly). He bought a ring that cost about 400 dollars. EVERYONE kept telling him that he was proposing too early.

He insisted that this was the love of his life. That he'd marry her and his life would be perfect. He even got avasectomy so that he could get it on with her and not make per pregnant. i forgot what it was. But she had some kind of genetic thing and they knew if they were to have their own children, then they would have it too. To make a long story short, he got into a fight and actually hit her, and that was that.

Following this event, he was very evasive and anti social. Wasn't the same person anymore. He wasn't outgoing anymore, and he didn't want to say much to us anymore. I think he didn't feel comfortable being around us because we knew what he'd did. Unfortunately, he couldn't man up. So he moved away, changed his number, took all of us off his facebook friend's list, and ostracizedfrom his life. and that was that.

My best friend just left me one day.

Now she hardly talks to me anymore.

Yes. I just had a friend steal $1,000 from me and then skipped town. He better hope I never see him again or I will be going to jail.

Not big-time, but just for little things, yes. Nothing to lose friendship over.

Yes but not really in a telling-my-deepest-secret kind of a way. When I was about 10, my best friend and I were walking around and ran into these two french kids who were a couple of years older than us and started bragging about how they knew tai kwon do and stuff. Well, a couple years before that I took some taikwondo and mentioned that whereupon they essentially asked me to prove it, then started to beat me up while my friend just stood there, wringing his hands. We're still friends, but I never let him forget it. I mean, when do you need a friend more?

And yes, I am extremely aware that being beat up by french anythings is super uncool. My only excuse is that there were two of them, and I was 10. *shrug*

Most people don't know how to keep a secret. Most people are feeble and they will tell anybody anything just togain their attention. Especially if they are a kid or have the mentality of a kid, many adults do. The only way to keep a secret is to keep it to yourself.

Many people will betray you, so you must be careful who you trust with sensitive information. To most people others are merely flys and kindness is the honey. Yes they manipulate others, that's what I am saying.

You must remember that people want something, they always want something, that's why they interact with others. Primitive and selfish. They don't consider how their actions will effect someone else. They're only conscious of what could happen to them. You don't matter because you exist to entertain them.

Yeah I have, but then again I trust everyone until they give me reason not to, so I'm sure they weren't the first friend to take advantage of that trust. I should be more of a cynic when it comes to things like trust, but I think everyone deserves to have the chance to be trusted, even though most of us lie on a regular basis. Trust breeds more trust though.
