OK, I'm wondering whether or not this is a common thing:

I was seemingly good friends with a lot of people in your High School during my HS years.

However, when I graduated HS in 2009 and reach college, I obviously lost touch with those going to different schools.

But for me, when I reached college two years ago, a lot of my HS "friends", particularly the girls, acted like I was a space alien when I would say "hi" to them or try to talk to them or something.

I havent talked to them ever since September 2009, but I was wondering:

Is this a common thing for people to do to former HS friends?

That is because they do not want to be associated by anyone who might be able to show their current friends how much stupid crap they did.

Ive lost touch with pretty much every person who i went to high school with expect for one friend. If i saw them or run into most of them i would probably say hi and talk a with them for a moment but for the most part just go back our separate ways. It's surprising how much people can change after HS.

It's also amazing how quickly they change. For me it seemed like the "space alien" treatment started almost as soon as I graduated, and yes I did have facebook at the time.

It's never really happened to me since I am usually the one that loses touch of that person.

People are really attached to me for some reason, but I never feel the same towards them after a few years. Relationship is a hard thing to maintain.

Spot on

Same thing happened to me. I remember senior year how towards the end everybody was acting super nice and stuff. It always seemed a bit phony with the family for life stuff

College came around? blaow, all practically non-existant. Not just me with my friends but when I caught up with a few they said basically nobody kept in touch with anyone other than those who were super close before HS started

Students are the biggest kunts on the planet. They turn into arrogant bar stewards and they don't deserve any kind of voice in life.

No offense to students, something just happens and you turn into awful people.

yeah thats def normal. Everyone spreads out way too far after HS for people to realistically stay friends. That combined with the fact that many people drastically change and reinvent themselves in that time frame so they may become completely different then what you used to know. Im really only still friends with this one girl and thats really only because we go to the same school other than that ive lost touch with just about everyone else. It dosent help that im not huge into facebook either. The good news though is that your bound to meet a bunch of new people.

Oh yeah but you meet new people anyways. In my case I'm glad that I don't hang out with highschool friends. Idon't hang out with anyone from highschool. Maybe its just me but I see it as a progression and advancement. I don't feel the need to go out and hang out with people all the time. I did that enough from 15-25 years of age. I think thats the problem with some youth they get married too young and don't get that out of their system.

When I visit my old highschool friends I feel out of place. Some of them haven't changed. Probably why they've been through 2-3 marriages.

At university & college you'll meet alot more people. The first week there I basically made all new friends.

If you goto your classes then go home or sit in the computer lab all day you're not going to meet anyone.

The first week of school I joined every club that sounded interesting. Some were crap like the Hemp Club, but I also joined Fencing Club, Tae Kwon Do, and a club where you were paired with someone and every week played a different sport. I was paired with one of the super hottest chicks in the friggin college. One week you'd do badmintion, then volleyball, soccer etc. It was awesome and I met alot of people.

You gotta get involved in stuff.

Ah, sorry, wasn't aware that you were personally acquainted with the majority of college students in the country, or even with enough to form a reasonable demographic representation of students everywhere.

You know the thing that kills me the most about all of this? You're making me utter a phrase I am remiss to utter under the most dire circumstances: LJ was right. One disagreement and now with a snap of the fingers I'm on your to-troll list, and you're saying I'm the one with something wedged up my butt?

One disagreement and now with a snap of the fingers I'm on your to-troll list, and you're saying I'm the one with something wedged up my butt?

I never said you had something up your butt  And every singe person in the world is on my to-troll list

Glad to see you're taking this all in stride. I'm wondering, though, what the point of demanding an apology is if you're never going to let it go anyways. Is it just that you take a perverse pleasure in getting an apology knowing full well you don't give a sh*t about it, or is it that you just don't know how to move on? I'm really just asking how confrontational I have to get about this, it's up to you.

I'm happy though. I'm not angry with everyone. I'm not even angry with you :D

Ignorance is bliss.

It's a statement of fact. I was under the impression that you wanted to just put this behind us, hence the apology. If that's the case then I wouldn't feel right about approaching you in a confrontational manner again. If that's no the case, though, then we can sit here and throw barbs at each other till the cows come home, your choice.
