I'm really just asking how confrontational I have to get about this, it's up to you.

theone86

Is that a threat?

It's a statement of fact. I was under the impression that you wanted to just put this behind us, hence the apology. If that's the case then I wouldn't feel right about approaching you in a confrontational manner again. If that's no the case, though, then we can sit here and throw barbs at each other till the cows come home, your choice.

Can't I have my cake and eat it too?

I never had any good friends in high school. I was socially isolated during pretty much all of my 12 years of school.

Sorry, they're mutually exclusive. To be a d*ck or not to be a d*ck, that is the question.

I'm happy though. I'm not angry with everyone. I'm not even angry with you :D

Ignorance is bliss.

What am I ignorant of? What is making your OT experience so intolerable that enjoying it is simply out of the question for someone of your vast intelligence?

Come on, rap with me homie, what's wrong?

I only hung out with one friend from high school during my time in college. Quite frankly I didn't associate with many of the people in high school as they were weird and not worth wasting my time with.

Yes, it's normal for friends to start becoming distant, it's part of growing up. The whole treating you like they never met you thing is pretty fked up though, I would of cross them off my friend list if I was you.

I only talk consistently with 7 people that I knew from highschool, thats only cause I had relationships with them outside of school. on the few occasions that I did run into someone from HS, I would make small talk, you know "hey, how are you doing?" etc. but after that, we go our seperate ways and never really talk after that

There's now only one person I somewhat regularly contact who I went to HS with. There are a few others who I would like to catch up with, but they have gone their seperate ways. I might take the initiative and call them some time.

As for the others; peers or acquaintences; I'm glad I don't talk to them. I don't miss any of them at all.

Well, I'll admit that I did have a season in fall of 12th grade where I was really angry at everyone, particularly the girls and deleted them off my facebook and bragged about it and everything, so that might have been part of the reason for my space alien treatment from some of the girls (even some of those I didn't delete), but then again I did do my best to apologize to them in the end and make things right, and they said they forgave me and stuff. But then again I wonder how much of a part that might have played in that.

Yea I think that played a huge part for you getting ignored, no wonder! what's the point of bragging about deleting "friends"? that's like saying "F-you! i'm glad we're not friends anymore, I don't need you!" to them, so you shouldn't be surprise they treat you that way.

Yep, it's completely normal. Everyone goes their sepereate ways after HS and you'll probably never see them again. Once in a blue moon you'll come across someone out in public or something, but that's about it and you don't hang out or anything. Facebook can help if you want to see what some people have been up to, but alot of people lie on there about themselves so it's pointless.

I don't know why people just can't be honest, if anyone is going to judge you then their the losers, not you. There is only one freind of mine from HS that I talk to regularly, and that's on Facebook and PSN. I rarely see them in real life.

The majority of my friends from High School go to my college as well and we will talk to eachother on campus if we see eachother, plus we still hang out off campus. Other people I knew and talked to a few times in High School I will talk to. I've never had friends act like I was a space alien in your example though.

Even with them on Facebook I still don't talk to them since we have all gone our separate ways. I don't even live in the same city that I went to high school in so when I do go back and visit my parents and if I see someone I know I'll chat for a bit but that is about it. I have more fun with my co-workers anyways to try and stay in touch with people from high school.

I would say that I haven't spoken to the vast majority of my high school acquaintances since graduation. Since then, I've seen perhaps two dozen of them in the following situations:

1. At my university, where six other people from my graduating class went.

2. On the street (happened a few times).

3. At big social gatherings (met a few old high school acquaintances at my sister's high school graduation).

4. I schedule a meetup during the summer with acquaintances I was on good terms with, but that only happens once a year.

5. I contacted a girl I knew from high school last year and we had coffee. Damn... it's been a year since I've spoken to her. Perhaps I should contact her again.

But, all in all, people drift away and move on. I know I have. I'll probably see some of them at the fifth anniversary of graduation, but I don't know if I'll be bothered enough to go.

Don't worry if your high school friends drift away... it's part of the process of growing up.

Yes as you go thru life, you lose old friends and make new ones.

Most of the people you think of as "friends" are really just people you know.

True "friends" are rare.

There's 3(?) people from my high school that I still talk to, out of ~1000. I didn't really have a lot of my own friends, I just knew people that my best friend was friends with.

I don't really miss them at all, I've known people at university for 5 months and love them more than anyone I spent 4 years with. I'm also pretty close with my junior and middle school friends still, so who needs high school friends?

No, but that's mostly because most of my HS friends were a year above me, so they went to college before me. I just lost touch with, well, all of them. Not immediately, but it's now been almost 5 years since I finished high school, and I think it's safe to say, that by now, I do not see any of my high school friends anymore.

It's a shame, but it's life. I do hope my university friends stay in my life for a bit longer, though.

I never had friends in HS to begin with. And OP,if they're treating you like that just forget about them. They werent your friends in the first place

nedim100

This.

I never had any close friends but had a few people who considered me a friend in highschool. I was not very cool so I just shut up most the time because then you do not really bother anyone. I got ****ed with sometimes but I think the people doing it were just trying to be funny so I can not really fault them about that.

I generally try to abide by the golden rule because it is just imo. I really only **** up that rule a couple of times on the internet and it is usually from just ****ing around (not an excuse as outcomes detirmine what is wrong imo not motive).

TC just ignore them and make new friends like nedim100 said.
