Before eating rare steak or raw fish, I thought fully cooked meat tasted awesome. Now I think fully cooked meat has no flavor and tastes so dry.
Anyone else's view of meat changed after eating rare steak or raw fish?

Raw fish is the best thing ever, especially when you catch that fish minutes before eating it.
can't say i care for raw red meat however.
Fish? No. I want my fish to be warm!
Steaks? I don't eat them rare. I grew up 20 years eating my parents steaks and they are paranoid as hell. When the meat is well done, they pretty much go 2X-Well Done (if not three times the time even). I really didn't like steaks. After 20 years I decided to cook a steak by myself and I was like: OMG THIS IS ACTUALLY EDIBLE!!! However, I don't know if it's the quality of the meat or my teeth but the more rare the steaks are the chewier they get. Therefore I don't really like rare steaks, I have a hard time chewing it, it just won't break down in my mouth.
So therefore, I prefer medium. Medium rare is acceptable too. Well done is cool too (as long as it's actually well done and not above well done)
I used to eat raw steak (Steak Tartare) when I was younger (pretty common in Maryland back in the day), but with the poor handling of meat products I wouldn't even dream of doing it now. It was very flavorful, which is probably why I like my steaks and burgers cooked rare to medium rare. If there isn't a good bit of pink in the meat I will send it back. I can't stand over cooked beef.
Love raw Sushi, and find that I prefer it over cooked fish.
Don't let the "You'll get ill" nonsense get to you, that only happens if the fish isn't properly cleaned or handled. Most of the time it will be perfectly safe to eat but even cooked meat and fish just means it pushes people to be less and less careful "Oh you dropped it? Well it's getting cooked any way" so either way you're at risk. How was your hospitilization?

I've never ordered or cooked a steak past "medium", and generally frown upon those that do, so no my view has not really changed.
Overcooked meat and fish tastes like ass, and the texture is even worse.
I don't like my steaks bloody, though, but pink and juicy.
yeah i like my steak mid rare and get sashimi all the time so i agree with the whole go easy on the heat thing.
Only in the sense that I will never eat meat that hasn't been properly cooked as raw meat is one of the more disgusting things I have ever tasted.
If your cooked meat has no flavour, you are cooking it wrong

It has less flavour the more blood it loses.

the flavour is in the fat, by that logic barbeques would not be popularThe flavor is in the fat? That's something an American would say. The fat's the best part. You can survive pretty well on 70% fat and 30% lean beef, provided it's only slightly seared.[QUOTE="Zaibach"]

I prefer my fish and seafood cooked, especially crab and shrimp. But, I'll eat sushi containing raw fish from time to time. Steak? I prefer medium-rare or done with just a hint of pink in the middle. Pork and fowl I definitely prefer well done.
We get our meats from the adjacent farms, not the local grocery. They definitely have to be fully cooked just to be sure there's no parasites in them.

It's simple human biology. The human body is built to want fat that's why it tastes good.
Never once have i heard anything about the flavour of the meat being in the blood...
It depends. Raw sushi is delicious but cooked salmon (when prepared correctly) is also quite delicious.
Personally though, I like my meats rare, from burgers to steaks, especially burgers.
I've never purposefully had any red meat well-done. It's always rare or medium rare.
As for raw fish, I do enjoy most types of sushi.
As flavorful as it may be, I cannot eat meat unless it is well-done because rare food grosses me out. I can barely eat it well-done anymore, in fact.
Eating rare steak has made me more appreciate a properly cooked medium rare steak. You get the best of both worlds from that. Raw fish hasn't changed my view on fully cooked fish at all. Fish either better be 100% raw or 100% cooked, nothing in between.
Yes it has. The first time I ever tried rare steak, I knew then that I could never eat rare steak regularly. I am very sensitive to the smell of blood, and it seemed to just overpower me from the plate. Red meat has to be well done for me... the least I will accept is medium well.
Sushi is another matter. I love fish when it's cooked or raw. For some reason I can't taste or smell the remaining blood in sushi. It seems to drain more easily without coagulating. If I had a choice between sushi and cooked fish, I'd probably pick sushi.
