I've had a lot of people over the past few months talking about lucid dreaming and how they can take control of their dreams, which seems pretty cool. I haven't had the time to dedicate to changing my sleep habits but I really want to try and develop this a bit.

So, have any of you experienced lucid dreams, and do you remember anything interesting that happened during them?

I did. But I just ended up having sex in them anyway, so it really wasn't worth the extra effort.

I pretty frequently lucid dream, but I do seem to find it less restful, I think when I do it, I'm getting to a lighter sleep state

Yeah, but it ruins my sleep. I can have someone walk into my room while lucid dreaming and I'll jump right up, so that I'm like half awake in bed dreaming. o.O hard to explain.

From my experience I don't like it, it just comes to me at least every night. It's fun but you get less rest than usual.

I do it without trying. I use to dream like I was falling or something then when I got older I started to be able to react as I would in real life. I can feel my muscles tense up during sleep as if I was going through the actual motions...........I hate it b/c I get better sleep when I'm dead tired and don't dream at all.

i use to be able to do it nightly. I'd pick a topic I wanted to dream about before I got in bed and just kind of went from there. I won the world cup with a last second shot many times :P

It was cool while it lasted. Now I pretty much don't sleep at all :(

Yep, I get lucid dreams. I haven't gotten one in a long time though. Whenever I realize I'm in the dream I tend to wake up soon after so it's short lived.

A little bit I suppose but it's usually just to end the experience as I tend to have vivid nightmares and I've found that it helps to work around my sleep paralysis problems. The last time was a week or so ago when I was stuck in a familar nightmare zone that often led to disturbing paralytic fear. I noticed that an old friend of mine Machaelle was standing around, so I simply turned to her and instructed her to wake me up (as I need to get fully awake or I'll just fall into an instant REM state). So she simply grabbed me and face me towards her and shouted very loudly in my face until I was jarred heavily enough to fully awake. It's a little shocking, but it better than fear gripping paralysis and all the confusion that it initially brings if I let it normally play out.

Hmm. I guess I am in a little control sometimes, but everything seems to move in a fast blur when I'm dreaming. I would love for my dreams to be realistic and believable. Like a virtual world or something. I would totally dream I lived in some Sci-fi universe and my brain would generate everything in 100% detail.

i learned it as a lil kid, i had nightmares so i learned to control myself to either wake myself up by opening the eyes or to lay down in the dream and let monsters and whatever come - since i knew it was just a dream thanks to that i stopped having nightmares for years i actually always assumed all people could take control and be aware in dreams, not until a few years ago i realized not all people can in general im aware its a dream and have some kind of control - sometimes i got more control what i do is that i run around in the dream opening doors and exploring it alot, sometimes i play aroudn with magic and stuff cause i can and in real life i cant... and ehm well seriously...any lucid dreamer have to admit they use it for sexual stuff... i mean common...u have control in dreams...i have very kinky sex and tons of sleeping orgasms (those wake u up btw) (ok i realize guys might not be as into waking up with wet pants as females to get multiply orgasms) ofcourse since i dont have total control all the time i can be in the middle of a lucid sexdream and a parent walk into the dream and i go: nooooo, get out its my dream and its sexual and ure ruining it, get out!!!!!! also i can tell u there are tons of different kind of orgasms u can get in a dream and one of them - an amazing i dunno how to get in real life!!! (btw ure obviously not thouching urself in real life - its the brain doing all the work in the dream to trigger orgasms) but well i dont have any tip on how to learn lucid dreaming but i can tell u its really amazing i might add that i got insomnia and sleep very light and dream nonstop and have wakeup nonstop, that migth affect as to why i so easily have lucid dreams

I lucid dream every so often, but I constantly wake up after doing such. I think its because I'm starting to wake up, but I"m still in the dream, so I'm gaining more self awareness, but after I do gain that awareness I just finish the process of waking up.

I don't try. It just happens. I've had lucid dreaming, sleep paralysis, and hypnagogia since about age 12. Lucid dreaming I get virtually every night, which may be why I only sleep about an hour and a half or two straight before waking up. I remember being a kid, going to bed, and sleeping straight through the night. I miss that.

The meds I'm currently taking have a side effect of lucid dreaming. I haven't had a dream yet for two/three years where I am not in control. I'm almost always aware of what's happening, I have full control. And to be honest it isn't all that great. It gets to the point where most of my dreams feel incredibly real. Being punched, shot, knifed to death, etc. have happened in my nightmares. I wake up in cold sweats and lose sleep from not wanting to go back to bed.

I can say though, that once in a while a good dream will come up and its one of the best feelings ever when being in control. The strangest part though, is that most of the stuff I dream of happen to occur in the near future. I'll wake up once in a dream before waking up for real, and suddenly realize that what I dreamt has just happened in the real world. I can't explain it, its just really bizarre. :?

The best part is controlling gravity. I've dreamt of being on my street and just deciding to run and jump and suddenly float, as if I were Superman himself. I could literally go as high as I wanted to, land on any building, go through all the clouds.. its a real awesome feeling. Then you wake up and wish it were true. :P

Every time I sleep. At the moment Im actually writing a script and when I lucid dream I am the main character in the story and through my thoughts and actions I push it forward. The next day I will write down what I dreamed.

I'm not really sure lucid is the right term for me. I am aware I'm dreaming, but I'm still in a mental state where my brain is no where near actual consciousness.

Yes I have experienced countless times, I started practicing to lucid dream 2 years ago. I can say I'm in a fairly good control! Needless to say Lucid Dreaming is not just about having a control over your dreams, it entails level of vividness, mind control in dreams, having the complete 5 senses and blah blah

just cause a person has lucid dreams it doesnt mean the dream has no surprices, sometimes u can only control urself, sometimes abit of the objects around u or whatever see it as a game ure actually in playing, u know its a dream so the monster doesnt scare u as much and u can throw fireballs at it instead, or just explore the dreamworld itself personally when i run around in my dreams opening doors i wont know whats on the other side - but i know its a dream and therfore im not affraid of anything and can have more fun with it and u feel stuff way more then in real life (in my case atleast), heat, cold, pain, pleasure, all senses, its all very vivid so i dont think any lucid dreamer would consider it bad its really amazing

i hear strories about alot of ppl cant get enough sleep when they lucid dream. some ppl cant stop lucid dreaming because they have been doing it for years and everytime they sleep they would just take control without even trying. thats the only thing im scared of.

I'm not sure if I was in control, but I did have a dream start where I had just left off from being awake, laying in my bed. My fan was still on and I could hear/feel the air being blown toward me and a dark figure appeared to be standing in my doorway watching me (which was scarier than s*** because my room was very dark to begin with). For some reason, when I tried to get up, I couldn't. I started to try and shout curse words at it (get the f*** out of here, etc). That creeped me the f*** out.

I would lucid dream, but my mind just turns them into sex dreams. Not exactly what I call being in control (especially since I believe in abstinence).

It was horrible. The first time was unintentional and when I woke up I didnt know if I was still dreaming or not. That day was REALLY awkward. How do you guys induce Lucid Dreams?
