No, although my girlfriend is part Filipino and her and her parents and grandparents have been there / were born there.

From the stories I've heard, it's hot, humid, buggy, and unpleasant. And like any other country with a big tourism industry, the place is divided between overpriced fancy hotels and beaches and the other areas where people live in poverty, eking out their existence in dirty slums and fishing.

I've also heard alcohol is extremely cheap to buy there.

And that the native people have very little concern about the environment - apparently garbage and disease are huge problems.

i,m from the netherlands but from the age of 16 i,ve seen a lot of asia (and the rest of the world).

but i specialy like the philipphenes ,so much that i bought a condo there 15 ago (cebu city).

normaly i try to go there 2 times a year, or stay 3 to 6 months.

also for gaming its great you got a lot internet/lan shops there and the gamehalls in the mall are the biggest ive ever seen(they got a fair in it and you can do ice skating and alot of games) and only 5 peso.

 i got a ps2 there and in my office there i got my laptop(not good for gaming) but next time i(hope in 2 months) take a spare videocard/mem/proc whit me and build a new pc because hardware is expensive there.

and i like the girls there (no sex:P) tanduaye rum and the weather and the friendly people.
