Have you ever met someone from a videogame IRL?

I was wondering how many people actually meet IRL from Video games or just online, and have you ever had an expierence with it? There is this older guy that wants me to visit him when his wife is out of town, he seems cool and is good at halo 3 and lives a couple hours away. Should I do it?

My step dad plays a lot of BF2 on PC, he has meet everyone in their clan and they have an annual BBQ every year together. I dont know if its such a bad idea for me to start meeting people online like he does you know.

Telling the truth about what? No, just in halo and video chats on xbox live. Sometimes he isnt wearing a shirt and he asked me if i was ok with that and i told him it was cool you know? I have talked to him for about.. idk a month or so. He is really freindly and i dont have any real freinds in real life so i thought i would visit him.

Yeah, I met someone while playing diablo 2 like 5 years ago, and we stayed friends. Eventually met him last year. It was pretty fun.........we played Halo 3 and had some awesome steak.gamertylers

Telling the truth about himself.But if you think and he is an ok guy, then go ahead but i strongly advise you have more than halo as contact with him to know him better before you meet him, just becareful and look for any strange signs on halo :) I met great people on this one forum I go to, and we would all like to meet eachother someday, I even found some one special! :oops:

See IDK if he is telling the truth or not, I havnt seen his wife or anything when we vid chat and he is kinda older to be playing games from what i can tell, but he is soo charming i cant say no! i think ill do it but i dont think i should tell anyone where ill be going to that night, that would be too embarrassing.

I've spent a week at a friends house and they spent a weekend at my place once who I met online, but we had known each other for about 8 years before we met. We actually stopped speaking because they got jealous of my lack of interest in playing MMO's as much as I did before and spending as much time online because of real life friends and life.

I also hang out with someone I met in an MMO who lives 15 minutes from me, he is awesome.

Oh, and if this really counts because I doubt it does, I met up/hang out with a guy who I go to college with after he found me through mutual friends in Facebook.

And oh, because this one REALLY doesn't count but it technically does, I posted a marketplace on facebook for some junk I wanted to get rid of and got a response from someone and now we are very close friends, probably my best guy friend. Turned out he was in a class with me and neither of us realized it for a week of talking thru messages on Facebook.

Edit: Whoops I forgot I also hung out with a friend I met on some forums once and went to a movie/shopping because she was in town visiting her sister, but she was a weirdo in person and kind of annoying, I had blocked that memory out haha.

But your guy sounds sketchy, from the stories I've heard and general common sense, I feel like if he thought of you as just a friend he would take measures to introduce you to his wife and make the trip to visit him inclusive of her, and not have it be a secret.
