I thought Panama was Manimal in this song. Probably from listening to The Germs first.

How about you? Surely somebody has to have mistaken a song lyric.

Yeah, many times. In Slayer's 'Black Magic', I thought Tom was singing "laughing in slaughter" -- but it's actually "laughing in sorrow". Getting the lyrics wrong is something that happens pretty often to me.

Yep, I remember when I was a kid I was into skateboarding and for awhile the song Smells Like Teen Spirit the lyrics where he says "A mulatto, an albino, a mosquito, my libido" when he said a mosquito I thought he said a skater lol.

All the time. Probably the worst would be Blinded by the Light by Manford Man/Bruce Springsteen. Misheard a line as, "Revved up like a douche, another runner in the night". Had no idea what that was supposed to mean. Some jerk is looking to start a fight maybe? Finally looked it up in the early days of Google, turns out it's "Deuce". Was a slang term for a particular hotrod or something. Gave the song a whole new meaning :)

When I was younger I had trouble understand a lot of AC/DC songs, still do quite a bit of the time. Spotify has lyrics to 99% of the songs now, pretty hard to find lyrics to a lot of songs in the early 80’s. Some things are better nowadays,Some.

There are passages in PAUL YOUNG´s "Everytime you go away" where i always hear "...you take a piece of MEAT with you!" rather than being "...you take a piece of ME with you" what he is actually singing.

There are some songs to this day I still gotta look up what the lyrics are actually supposed to be because they are so distant/softly-spoken or else you can barely pick them up just by listening to it. Even hearing things clear as day I still get it wrong a lot of the time.

I feel that my mistaken lyrics are better than the actual ones. Surprisingly no one ever calls me for a collaboration.

lol Yes. I used to think it sounded like “I’m driving like I’m black” rather than “driving black on black” when I first heard “Animals” by Nickelback.

Oh ya, constantly, but to be fair some of the songs are asking to be misheard lol.

Anyway, thought this was relevant:

La Charanga by Fandango USA

I would always think Charanga was a women's private part as a kid. Now I realize it was Pachagana in the lyrics instead of vagina.

Yes, for many years with many songs wherein the pronunciation is quite dubious. Until I think of looking up the lyrics to a song, and then I say to myself: "Oh, yeah, that makes more sense".

Some bands you can't even understand what they're saying until you read the lyrics, then you can actually hear it. Novo Amor is a perfect example of this.

Agreed. I blame bad singing/performing that features poor enunciation and bad production that doesn't realize the vocals are muddy.
