I love how people express thoughts from only their perspective. (Though in my odd case it does refer to me as well, I suppose.)You mean is having a spouse necessary in life? No, of course not, some are asexual (anti-sexual) and don't even desire a mate. Others can simply do without it, or may pose a danger to others etc (You can keep naming reasons forever)

For everyday people? I'd say it can be a wonderful thing, but being in a relationship is not without its' share of faults.

Anyways, you shouldn't just date someone for the sake of dating, or even because that person likes you. It's not a good enough reason just to like them back. You should get to know that person as a friend before going any further, or else you might make a big mistake. If they don't want to get to know you when you say you're not ready for dating, then they're not the right person to be dating in the first place.
