ok here's the story, my brother is in the army and he married this asian girl, brother has to go off to Afghanistan and he doesnt want his new wife to be all alone.... so he asks our parents to let her move in with us. of course parents say yes, and at the time i was ok with it. but now... i'm not sure if its just the deep accent of her asian origin, but when she talks to me, or at all, it's it a very snobby/whiney tone. and it drives me NUTS!! and she believes in ghosts coming out of TVs (somehow she heard i was playing Fatal Frame) and told ME to not play games like that. (what right does she have?!!?). idk maybe it's just pet peeves

can someone with an annoying roomate give me some pointer on how to keep my cool?

Just ignore her and tell her to leave you alone if she doesn't have anything nice to say. You don't have to put up with her, it's your brother's wife, not yours.

true, although it's getting to the point where she basically tells my brother (her husband) how things are going, and as protective as my brother is, he will go nutsknowing that im not getting along with her. but if he does, i will tell him to suck it (not really but that's the intention)

Be honest with her. Let her know right away that you have no hard feelings, but you'd prefer her not to talk to you as much. Otherwise, if you let it brew, you might end up lashing out at her and the situation might get worse

I hate my brother's wife (Thankfully I don't have to live in the same house as her though) but him and I are still close. Just tell him you're glad he is happy with her, but other being civil with her you don't like her and would prefer she left you alone. Just be honest with him and let him know you're happy for him, but just because you love him as a brother, doesn't mean you're going to love her like a sister. Hell it's practically a law we hate our in-laws anyways

Mind your own business and be civil and polite as much as possible. Maybe your bro will believe you, maybe you won't, but at least that way you'll know that it was entirely on her end. If she bothers you about the game you're playing, ask her if she needs the TV right there at the moment. You're using the TV and so you're free use it as you wish just as you would allow her to use it as she wishes when it's her time to use the TV.

Yes, because open fighting/screaming is always the answer. Read the original post. He doesn't have the ability to do what you suggest him to do. He's living with his parents, who are okay with her and she is his sister-in-law. He can't kick her out and yelling at her will only make the environment worse. To TC: have you talked about this at all with your parents? Maybe you guys can have a sit-down with your parents as the mediators/middle-people?

Just start walking around naked and refuse to wear any cloths at all. She'll either be creeped out and leave or start sleeping with you, so you come out the winner either way.

i have talked to my mom about this, typically she is the "way-too-nice" type so i had to tell her my point of view. oh and about the game/tv thing, she lives downstairs and i upstairs, i have my own tv that i play my games on, and she has a 46' HDTV (which my brother bought, yet all she does is watch HGTV on it IT KILLS ME TO SEE a 2000 dollar TV go to such waste). knowing this, she doesnt want me to play the game despite the fact im playing it on a different floor of the house?...

Did you ask her why she doesn't want you to play that game? Is it offensive to her culture or something along those lines? Try talking it out with her and nicely but firmly let her know that you respect that she doesn't like the game (and will show that respect by not playing it in front of her or talking about it around her) but that it's your life, you enjoy playing those types of games and that you are going to keep playing it because you like it and it's your life to do what you enjoy.

Many areas in Asia are very superstitious, and they take it quite seriously. She probably thinks the game is literally haunted, and just trying to help. I'm guessing there's a quite a bit of age difference so she's not really going to just respect you cause your family. What I would do is have a few friends of mine pull a prank on her so to say. Basically you make her believe the house is being attacked by spirits, and you save the day. She'll probably love you forever after that.

That doesn't sound so bad. My sister and her husband let her husband's friend move in. :| He nearly destroyed their computer by going to porn websites. Not only that, but her husband let his friend use his phone, only to have his friend run the phone bill up to $652 this month because he was calling his girlfriend in Canada. She wants him out, and if he doesn't pay her $700 ($500 for phone bill and $200 for rent), she will be out of a phone. He also stole a wedding photo from her that were from her wedding proofs. :|

Oh, he knows she's quite angry about it. She had him go into the office and take a look at the phone bill. He wasn't happy and had a talk with the dude. I bet she is, and he probably is creepy, someone who has that much lack of respect and consideration for people's things who were nice enough to take him in is most likely capable of anything because he most likely thinks he can do whatever he wants to anyone because so far his actions show he thinks that. I'd be careful around him and try not to be alone with him, if he's that insensitive to others who knows what the jerk is capable of, it sounds like he has some major character flaws.

My mom won't let me go over to their house because the guy is there. He was only using my sister's husband's cell phone because his was turned off (hm, should have been a red flag to the husband when he heard about the dude's phone being turned off since he didn't pay his $800 phone bill).

Yeah and if he had the kind of money it would take to pay your sister back for the bill then he wouldn't need to be staying with them or have his phone turned off in the first place. Your sister and her husband are nice people for taking him in, but they should have thought things through as well and at least set some ground rules for him to follow before allowing him to move in at all.

true, although it's getting to the point where she basically tells my brother (her husband) how things are going, and as protective as my brother is, he will go nutsknowing that im not getting along with her. but if he does, i will tell him to suck it (not really but that's the intention)

Wait that could work your bro would get mad, kill every1 and end the warr.
