I just got an email today from Netflix stating that they will no longer obtain movies on HD-DVD. Subscribers will still be able to get any current movies they offer in HD-DVD, but any new releases will not be available. This has to be another big blow to HD-DVD.

Now is the time to stock up on them, they'll be cheap before you know it. And then sit back and wait for a dual HD-DVD/Blu-ray player.

My family learnt their lesson with beta max... never again will we buy into a new format before it is a definite successor.

I think all the next gen forms are unneeded but that's me, since I buy $1 VHS used tapes for any movie made within the last 5 or more years.

Yeah Blu Ray is going to be he next format, no doubt about it. Just look at the ratio of sales, HD-DVD to Blu-Ray. You'll see.

In the end, there will be more dodos than there are HD-DVDs.

that's what they get for not advertising as crazy as Sony.

I don't think HD-DVD will be hunted to extinction by the Spanish.

HD-DVD is pretty much dead already, but Blu-Ray will only last like two years anyway, because we'll download everything off of the internet.

I'm glad. It saves me from buying another player and gives me a reason to use my PS3.

My checklist for the PS3 is nearly complete. The Blu-ray/HD-DVD battle was one of the biggest things stopping me getting it. Now it's just a wait until there are a sufficient number of games on it that are better than the selection of games on the 360.
