I personally hope he reappears. Granted Ledger did a great job but the Joker isn't really that hard to portray. Just because an actor dies, his role especially a role so important to the franchise, should not die with him.
Look at Dumbledore in the Harry Potter movies. they didn't say: Oh he's dead bettter forget the character.
thats because dumbledore was needed to make the rest of the films:|I personally hope he reappears. Granted Ledger did a great job but the Joker isn't really that hard to portray. Just because an actor dies, his role especially a role so important to the franchise, should not die with him.

Everyone will disagree with me but I believe the Joker is necessary as well. He is Batman's archenemy, and correct me if I'm wrong but didn't he mention he would live on to torture Batman when he was hanging from the wire?

btw how could you not notice the difference? I'm not sure that the new Dumbledore really is better than the old one though but i think he is better built for fight scenes than the old one
I'd say in maybe 10 years or so when they decide to make another Batman trilolgy fresh again, we'll see the Joker return as someone else.
He has to.
The Joker is too awesome and unique to NOT bring him back at some point. It's just a question of how long you let the grass grow.
Johnny Depp is the only conceivable actor I could imagine taking over the position.
I was EXTREMELY disappointed they killed off Two Face so quickly...jesus what a botched opportunity for some good character development in a third movie. He was such an interesting character. They should've downplayed Harvey Dent/Two Face's role in TDK and spent more time on him in a third movie. Plus, they could hypothetically stop making more Batman movies as of now, the ending of TDK was such that it didnt leave it wide open for sequels.

Yeah, I agree about the Two-Face thing. He could have been great in the next film. And I think the ending left a good amount of room for a sequel. Now Batman has got to get redemption and he can't quit until Gotham doesn't need him anymore.
harvey dent died...not Two face...i just feel it.Johnny Depp is the only conceivable actor I could imagine taking over the position.

I haven't really thought of that. Good theory though.

He fell out the window onto the ground, man. He's dead. If they made him alive again, the movie completely loses its realism. They should end it right there. If they don't, I'm not sure it'll be good again.

Yeah, Dent's character transformation was too instantaneous and quick, and over-the-top.

Don't worry, Dent's dead. Though there are quite a few scenes in both movies that turned off the realism aspect.
He owned that role. I didn't even recognize him.
I'm sure they can find a replacement but that guy will have to step up big time.
kingdre
Man, a replacement? Heath Ledger was perfect. Nolan seems to be good at coming up with villains- Cillian Murphy was basically perfect as the scarecrow(I enjoyed Ledger more, it's what I really enjoyed about the movie). As for the other characters(Christian Bale in particular), good but overrated.

Dreams-Visions
Well, obviously for a fresh restart, but for the current trilogy(or however many movies it may be), it wouldn't be the best idea.

did you notice batman fell right next to him?? also batman fell for a 20 storie building onto a car to save rachel and they both lived? its a fricking comic book adaption...seriously not much realism there...90 percent of things that happened in the movie are near impossible.Maybe they'll change the Joker but I wanna see him in the next Batman movies
Heath Ledger performance was just brilliant! May he rest in peace
PS. I don't like the chick that replaced Katie Holmes in the first movie. She was not a good actress in my opinion
I don't think he'll be in the next film, just maybe a mention of him at the asylum. But if he is in the next one then I'm sure they'll find someone to replace him, I mean he was in make-up the whole movie so it'd be harder to tell the difference. But they are going to have a hell of a time finding someone who plays the role better than Ledger.omfg_its_dallyum you can the difference easily:| If you couldnt tell the difference between Jack Nichlson Joker and Heath Ledger Joker then I dont even know
I'd prefer it if they just brought a new villain in for the 3rd one. Also, I will never look at pencils the same way again.Ignignokt104

Riddle me that.
Wayne and Stark are from different universes, don't compare themwhy cant Batman the richest or maybe second richest *cough* Tony Stark get a hot girlfriend

Dude, he did such an amazing job, he was creepy as hell, and exactly how the joker should be. I hope if they get a new guy hes just the same. And also, isn't 2face supposed to be the villian of the next one? At the end they made you assume that the joker trained 2face to become the new villian.cole_793
indeed. ign interviewed nolan a while back. he said that if you look at the 2nd movie in the scope of the trilogy, it serves to set up two face as the villian of the 3rd movie.
of course, each of the other movies has featured 2 super villians. id imagine batman 3 (for lack of a better name) will have another baddy for batman.
