Cut your nails too short to bite, or you could chew gum or something. If your still in school and you're not alowed to chew gum just ask if you can because you are always chewing your nails. They might understand.Ritard
ive tried that, and ive bitten my nails to the point where they can no longer be bitten, so whenver the grow i bite... its really bad.
and the gum wont work cuz the school administation are ****ers. thanks anyway
Well, you need to do somthing else with your hands or your mouth. So chew gum or constanly be playing calculator games.tehdiabetic
ive done that.. by texting my friends. my nails grow but whenever im in a situation where i cannot do anything, like church for example, i bite them down to where i started from...

Wait...I've got another idea. Always wear gloves. That way you can't bite them, or you could get one of those dog cones so a dog can't bite itself.

Merely putting tape over the finger tips would achieve the same effect.

Wow. There is someone who is thinking. However, I think he would just pick at the tape and then bite his nails.

yes, but he could also just pull of the glove and bite at his nails too. However, if he's committed to quitting, he'll probably be able to ignore that pressure and keep it on. Alternatively he could also wear a rubber band around his wrist and when he catches himself biting his nails can snap himself with it, though that would take more willpower than simply wearing gloves or tape. And all three ideas require him looking goofy in public. IMO the best thing to do is coat the nails with some foul tasting liquid. That way he's instantly repelled by the act and in the long run should create a subconcious aversion to nail biting, all without having the temptation to simply remove something to return to the habit. Finally, he could seek help from a cognitive-behavioral therapist if nothing works, or if money isn't a factor in getting rid of the habit.

Would you really pay money for a small nailbiting habbit. Besides it sounds like more of a "board and need to do somthing with my hands" thing. You should try solving a rubix cube. That will keep you busy.

I should try doing that...

Meh, if it bothers him enough it might be worth it. Granted its like using a tank to kill a fly, but its an option nonetheless, especially if nothing works and he really wants to get rid of the habit.
