Okay so I could hook it up to a phone jack through the port (though that means I'de have to figure out where to put it, I can't think of any phone jacks in my house that it would make sense for me to hook the xbox 3 (or "one") up to). Wireless seems like a good idea (still I'de prefer a console to only require a tv, the console and control, the disk or cartidge, a tv and a power source, not adding the extra requirement of an internet connection).
Also what do you need to hook the 360 up to Xbox live? Would I need another router or wireless adaptor? I have a router in my parents' room attached to the desktop and my sister's laptop is able to get internet wirelessly because of that router, so can I connect my 360 just with that (it's in my room, which is next to my parents' room so it's fairly close to the router)? I'm interested in hooking it up so I can download Halo 2 onto it. (Since I have Halo 1 Anniversary edition, 3, 4, ODST and Reach), I recently beat Reach and the first two levels of Halo CE Anniversary Edition, so I'de like to download 2 (since the disk would only work on the original Xbox) and maybe play that before going on to re-beat 3 and then play 4.

Do you really not know what the difference is between a phone and ethernet cable? No, the Xbox One requires broadband, that mean it cannot go through phone lines. While they look similar, ethernet cables are bigger and the ports are larger as well.
