The strongest argument for gun ownership has always been the right for people to own property freely. That crime is higher doesn't make it wrong for people to own weapons, and that it is lower likewise doesn't make it right.

Can I own a nuke?

That requires more permits than say... a rifle. You could try though.

Yeah

Can people who are confident that trees with scary and weirdly familiar voices will invade the nation on the 19th of June 2019 own a nuke?

Honestly, I'd probably say no. People have inalienable rights, but for complete nutjobs I think society would be warranted to deny them that right. I would err on the side of allowing people more freedom rather than less though, and if we are being realistics, someone who thinks trees will invade probably couldn't afford a nuclear bomb anyway.

[QUOTE="GazaAli"] Well, I was referring more to the fact that trying to generalize a niche phenomenon in a very small country to the rest of the world or to some of the biggest states in existence is just really shallow and overly simplistic.LJS9502_basic

That too

Actually that's wrong. The topic is simple. IT compares two things and two things only. Thus the subject of Switzerland is applicable to that comparison. There were no other parameters discussed in the OP. Also you might want to remove your quote as you can be moderated for quoting him.

Not really, it depends what you mean by High Gun Ownership. Next to the US, Switzerland doesn't really have High Gun Ownership, considering it's less than half.

We should institutionalize mental hospitals again. Ever since the 60's riddance of them we have more and more crazy people on the streets. Problem is with people. Not guns.
