Why do people have such a problem with criticism and analysis? What's so wrong about voicing opinions instead of just being passive all the time?
if everyone equally appreciated all kinds of music, then what would be the point of talking about them? it would almost defeat the purpose of OT.bobstosI appreciate all genres of music. Except bluegrass and polka. Other than that I can certainly find music to listen to in the genres.
My taste in music is large I like many different Genre's, but there is one genre I will never like and that is dance music.

I enjoy rock the most out of those but I don't mind a blend of two of those from time to time. For example, Rage Against the Machine is an excellent blend of hip-hop vocals with the heavy riffs that belong to metal. Also, tock/hip-hop blends are enjoyable as well (such as The Roots). However, I think a mix of rock and metal is called "hard rock" if I remember correctly and there are a few I like from that blend as well like Queens of the Stone Age.
In short: All three genres have their gems and blending them never hurts either.
That is all.
[QUOTE="Baffels18"]Which genre of dance? I would like to know too since I've choreographed dance to metal music. I for one think my tastes in music is diverse enough that I am able to find really great songs from different genres from different musicians. My taste in music is large I like many different genres, but there is one genre I will never like and that is dance music.

I think its all a matter of preference. For example, I love rock but for the most part don't enjoy metal or hip hop.
I listen to some rock. I like post rock. Mogwai for example. I like classical music like Brahms or Chopin. Mostly classical from the romantic period. But I do like the usual stars from previous periods like Bach and Mozart. I listen to Jazz as well. Mostly cool Jazz and fusion Jazz. I love The Weather Report and Jaco Pastorius's solo work as well. Chick Corea is ok only in small doses though. I like some techno and trance. Daft punk and Robert Miles. I probably listen to metal the most. Big Iron Maiden fan. Alot of the metal I like is mostly progressive like Dream Theater or power metal like Dragonforce, Rhapsody of fire, Avantasia, and just about all of Arjen Anthony Lucassen's work.
Rock, then metal (Metallica and Iron Maiden rather than black or death metal) and hip-hop a very distant third. In fact, I don't think I've come across any hip-hop I've liked (though my trawls through the genre haven't been extensive).
I really enjoy both classic rock and metal... hard to decide between those two. I don't like rap... at all.chessmaster1989This. Although we all know that Symphonic Metal is the greatest of them all and all shall fall before the epicness of Symphonic Metal! Nah, just kidding, but Symphonic metal is awesome.

Old ones from 90s and real early 00's. Good. Rock is also good. Metal is too loud for me...:|

For example, I dislike classical musical, but I'll never deny the genius behind Chopan, Mozart or Beethoven.
Also, I'm a Red Wings fan, your sig offends me. :P It was a hell of a series, I really thought Detroit had it after beating them to a pulp in Game 5.
[QUOTE="MetroidPrimePwn"]Well there is Rage Against the Machine Tom Morrello is a god in my eyes. (Did I spell his last name right? Probably not haha)Somebody needs to get out there and make some Rocking Metal Hip-Hop.

Rock- I don't like most of the stuff they play on the radio, but there are a few bands I like.
Metal- I hate most of it. I can appreciate the technical skill that goes into it, but I don't see a lot of creativity or variety from the genre, and the constant screaming is desensitizing.
Rap- Again I don't like the radio stuff(Except Lupe Fiasco), but it's not hard to find some really good indie hip-hop.
Hip-hop is awesome. It'smusical poetry at its finest. The beats in hip-hop can also be pretty cool, especially if you have a good sound system, but the main reason why I like rap is for the lyrics and flow. Many people can'tunderstand the gangsta lingo, and to be honest, I can't at times either, but I almost think of it like Shakespere. You have to kind of read between the lines, so to speak. NOT that I'm comparing rappers to Shakespere, I'm just saying that neither can really be taken as face value. I dig old school west coast, but when it comes to 21st century rap, I like east coast. Rap can be violent, unlawful, and misogynistic, but it's nothing to be taken seriously. Although, some rappers do take it a bit far.
Metal is also a decent form of music, but it confuses me.One thing that gets on me about metal is how extreme it can be. For example, Cannibal Corpse. The music is bad, so bad. Why are the instruments so spastic? Why does the singer sound like cookie monster? Why are the lyrics so screwed up? I'm justusing this band as an example, because I know there are more bands out there like this.
