Because AKIRA is not enough - Warner Brothers has now opted to get the rights for the anime BLEACH.
Peter Segal (50 First Dates, Get Smart) is in negotiations to produce with Michael Ewing. Doesn't look like Segal is directing.

As long as orihime is casted correctly, I'm all for it.
EDIT: Can't they just adapt these animes to be more CG. Something like Advent Children would be amazing.

This ain't gonna work, alot of its quality is in the action sequence art style. Putting it in live action won't work as the charectors and story aren't all that great.markop2003
I know right? How could anyone possibly hope to capture Kubo Tite's art style in a live-action movie? I mean, for one thing, there's no way to have blank backgrounds in a live action movie since the camera will always pick up something behind the actors. It just won't be Bleach if it has any kind of scenary in the background.
Dont forget Cowboy Bebop...Keanu Reeves ftl, but atleast he knows "Kung Fu"Because AKIRA is not enough - Warner Brothers has now opted to get the rights for the anime BLEACH.

Perfect! Now all we have to do is make a live action Trigun movie, with Pauly Shore being Vash the Stampede! -_-;
I hope it's just as bad as Dragonball Evlolution. It'd be hillarious. After that, they should go for One Piece and Naruto.
Exactly how I feel. This is a terrible idea... unless, and only if, they decide to go completely CG with it. Then maybe it'll have something of a chance of being more than a cringe-fest. Live action simply does not work with these types of things... Dragon Ball Evolution being the perfect example. *bashes head on desk**Looks at Dragon Ball*

Think Dragonball Z with swords except everyone is dead and no one turns into an Aryan when they power up. It's well known for the near-complete absence of backgrounds and the fact that the plot of the entire series is basically the same two arcs repeating over and over again.
Well WB did do a great job with the Batman movies. If similar effort is put forth then it could be great.
Also Dragon Ball fail was done by FOX, with little effort put into it.
Don't forget about Ghost in the Shell. Dream Works bought up the rights, and Spielberg is producing. The current writer is the one who did shutter isand, and is a apparent fan of the series. So at least it seems Ghost in the Shell is getting good effort put into it.
i see a lot of people that arent familiar with anime saying

i watch the show and i still dont know why its called bleach

Very true. Not a big fan of Bleach, but I hate when they just ruin other people's beloved shows/books/anime/games/etc... :(i see a lot of people that arent familiar with anime saying

Haha, it's a good question! I always thought it had something to do with 'cleansing-people's-souls' etc? (Bleach).
I could be completely wrong though.
