So screw authenticity then...matter of fact let's just have the cast of Friends play all anime-to-American fim adaptions. You're right about Gran Torino too, I'd much rather have none vietnamese people talking about their migration to the USA then actual vietnamese people... :| Also, was pretty well recived.

Agian this is hollywood its about the monies not authenticity. Plus they were hmong not vietnamese big difference.

You got my point...and I believe those cosplayer>all other cosplayers of Bleach.

I see what you're trying to get at. But honestly your comparing Gran turino to Bleach. Gran Turino was directed, produced and acted by Clint Eastwood one of the most talented man in the movie industry. Bleach isn't even that great of an anime to begin with its entertaining but not a masterfully crafted piece of art. I also highly doubt they will have a talented team to direct and produce it. In Gran Turino if they couldve found Vietnamese actors or any kind of East Asian actors better than the Hmong actros they had acting skill wise, it wouldve made the movie that much better. They physically look close enough alike, I wouldn't care its a movie I want good acting. I'm saying culturally in real life there is a difference between Hmong and Vietnamese.

I wasn't comparing Gran Torino to Bleach... I was commenting off of a quote. But either way chances are Bleach will get stuck in development hell and never get made...I'm just thougth it was silly to have charaters that development are losely based off their heritage not even properly (or at all) represented by their actor.

I don't get it. I had to read the synopsis of Bleach to see how deep into their "heritage" it is. Apart from it being an anime and having the setting and characters be Japanese - its some generic story! So how is it imperative / necessary to have Japanese actors in the movie? Maybe I am missing something since I don't watch this show.

Just the best Manga-to-Anime adaption ever!!! (In my opinion) but really, I was refuring to their names, location, Shinigami ect ect. Perosnally, the biggest problem I have is the names. It would be very distacting to me to go to a movie based off of Masako Owada being played by Shia Labeouf in Japan.
