How come no nation conquered antarctica yet?

I was thinking that if it was conquered someone build hundreads of missile solos to take over the world because it does run along under all the othercontinents and u can fire on both teh north and south countries even if it does'nt have any resourses its still a great peice of land.

I don't really think there's a point to living in Antarctica, at least not until we find oil there.

It's too cold for humans. The animals that live there have adapted to it over millions of years.

Probably because every nation would respond because there are most olikely mass gas deposits and oil underneath the ocean just like there is near the arctic circle.

Well there is a treaty in place, and certain nations do have "control" over certain slices, which are mostly cut around specific longitudes running straight up from the south pole itself. Also there really is no point in having it, except for weather and atmospheric testing, getting ahold of resources in the actual land would mean getting down the hundreds, if not thousands of meters thick glaciers that cover almost the full extent of the continent in main mass. There are a couple permanent stations, one of them actually has regularily about 2000 personel, and is on the arm like peninsula that goes up towards South America.

Antartica could be a missile range, but I'm sure it's forbidden and using nuclear weapons there for testing could spell disaster thinks to the melted ice being vaporized and the surrounding atmosphere having to take in all that moisture at once, which has to come down at some point possibly creating noticeably higher sea levels. Thing is how much ice would have to be melted to see a noticable rise? That would be an interesting piece of information to run through a super computer for results.

Antartica launches the ICBMs, and then they suddenly skip a beat in XYZ dimensions and end up 5000 kilometers further north?

Or are they a second wave of ICBMs, that was launched from the imaginary northern antarctica?

Oh sure, several expeditions have made inroads into the Antarctic interior, hoping to extend their countries claims on the continent, but they've never been heard from again.

Antarctica is too cold to support permanent human habitation. Antarctica cannot support farming and agriculture because it's too cold for these things.

Also I'm glad that Antarctica is not under territorial sovereignty because it's the only place on earth where you can stay as long as you want without requiring government or state permission.
