How come vampires and zombies aren't scary anymore?

What happened?

Zombies have always been scary. :? Vampires on the other hand haven't had a good reputation ever since Twilight. There should be a Dracula remake to bring justice to vampires.

Over-saturation. Especially with vampires. One thing that originally made them 'scary' was the mystique involved with their mythology which is completely destroyed at this point. SaintLeonidas

The vampires in Twilight are way scarier and more awesome than all the other ones.

Dracula: Dead and loving it was the movie that sploit it for me. Possibly could have been A Vampire in Brooklyn did it before that. Wait no, I remember. It was Once Bitten. Vampires havent been scary since.

I don't think vampires were ever really scary.  Maybe the old black and white Nosferatu guy was, but the rest were all corny or more concerned with the whole "I'm a good person but I'm forced to kill people because I'm a vampire" thing.

Zombies could be scary but most movies featuring them are 100% concerned with gore rather than scares.  They're usually really cheesy and stupid.

Both creatures could be really scary way if anyone decided to make a movie that featured them in that way.  But it's mostly lowest-common-denominator crap these days.

Aimed at too young an audience.

If I made a zombie film it would be designed to scare you rigid

They're too attractive to be scary. Sexiness means more box office money for the studio.  

Vampires are gay and zombies have turned into go-to shotgun fodder.

Because Vampires were ruined by the media (movies, tv, etc...) and zombies have flooded the market...besides, zombies aren't what is scary, it's the disease that causes the zombies that is the big deal.

Probably because they are overdone to the point where we've gotten used to seeing it.

Meh, people are used to vampires and zombies. But, I think plastic surgery victims will be the next horror film stars? Just imagine turning a corner and bumping into one of these beauties, or waking up from a drunken night out to see one of these babes lying besides you snoring and drooling....:?
