How come you all have higher ranks?

How come everyone who has a rank on gamespot at around 30-40, has been using this site for less than me. Ive been using it since 2004, and ive only got 28 or 29, or somethin like that, and its not like i took long breaks, ive used it almost constantly. I can understand that sending more posts, and blogging e.t.c. can make your rank higher, but by 10 levels?!?! its unjust.

P.S. I dont actually care how high my rank is, its just unsual, maybe a glitch, i dont know, it is why im asking you.

139 vs. almost 30k

Well I think a lot of things up your level, posting is one of them. Looking at your post count it doesn't look like you post a lot. Some people spend more time here and others get suspended a lot and that is why you might see people who joined in 2002 with a level 20 or so ranking.

Like you said it doesn't really matter, but I can understand why it might seem a bit odd.

I been here since 2004 too, i dont complain cuz i know i didnt spend enough time to be a lvl 40 like some ppl, specially posting i didnt do that very often i guess i do post a lot now ^^?. If u dont watch videos, post on the forums or vote on the polls u will stay on the same rank no matter for how long u been here.TanKLoveR

i've been moderated way too many times to have a higher rank, i was at there edge of becomming lvl 28 at least a dozen times before, but i keep getting moded :cry: but i do spend alot of time on here.americahellyeah

I mena, your a really good example, you have been here since the beginning of 2008, and your at level 27. Ive been here since 2004, the 4 YEARs more, and im only on level 28, either you spend every minute on gamespot, or something just doesnt add up.

i spend 2 or 3 hours on a day, i never log out, i'm active in a couple unions, i post as much as my broken mouse and kb will allow me, and gamespot is always open in at least one of my browser windows if not many... i don't have much else to do, and i live out in the countryside.

plus 7.8k posts will rank you up alot more than 140.

Use the site a lot. Post topics, make blogs occasionally. Post a lot.

I'd go up faster if I used the actual game site to, read a lot of news or something.

It wouldnt matter, but its just puzzling, i pretty much understand everyone's agreements, but listen to this. I also have gamespot browser open atleast an hour a day, while actively looking at videos, or rewading articles and threads e.t.c. But then if i just posted more things, i would rise up by 10 levels. Most peopel (besides the select few) who where here during the early days of gamespot are at levels of high 30s to mid 40s while havnt even hit 30. gamespot, to me seems like its saying posting is the main way to increase your rank, not actually browsing the site, or the millions of other things which you can do (which i do).

ive been on gamespot since about mid december 2007 and im alevel 17 i dont no if that is high for a short amount of timeishoturface

It depends on a few factors... Like how many posts you read or post. there are caps though, so you don't have some mad poster that joined a month ago as a lvl 25. Anyways, I'm a testament about the posting thing, I have about as many posts as lvls. Though I joined in 2003, I never actually did anything on this acount since about a year ago. So it's basically doing as much things as you can before you reach the cap for the day and not getting modded. So yeah, I'm basically the ultimate stalker of gamespot lol. :twisted:
