For me it was working as a goods deliverer and got it through my dad.
Anyone else? Just curious

My first job was as a golf cart manager at a golf course. Was such a blast to run all those golf carts around, and of course the tips!

That sounds like a sweet job:D
I was 15 and it was the Winter Holidays. I needed some money so I went to this Christmas Tree farm and said "Hey, do you need help for a couple weeks?" and the guy and lady (nice couple from Oregon) said "Sure" and I worked for 10 bucks an hour for a couple weeks. They were really sweet and were concerned I was working too hard lol, they ended up giving me a 200 dollar bonus cuz they thought I earned more than 10 bucks an hour.
That was the job that made me fall in love with physical labor. If I won the lottery tomarow I'd work construction and/or demolition for the rest of my life.
I applied to be a dishwasher when I was 14. I got the job and worked there for 2 years, thank god I don't work there anymore.guitarman89
haha that was my second job. Thankfully i got promoted to cook within 6 months, but god that job sucked.
Just recently got my first job, as a lifeguard at a local YMCA. Currently going through the lifeguard certification class.
I found out about it in the local newspaper. Since summer's coming up, they wanted a bunch of new lifeguards.
i had been at the club for a long time (about 6-7 years) and me and the tennis pro (he owns the place) became real good friends so when one of the other teaching aides went off to college, i quickly took his place although at first i was just teaching for no pay cuz i liked to teach but then when the pro found out that i never asked for pay he demanded that i fill out a time card haha.00Wu
Wow, this has to be the longest sentence I have ever read.
A gas bar "fuel technician" (or pump jockey for those of us in the real world) I. got it through a reference from a friend... how everyone gets a good job these days, qualifications are meaningless if you have an "in."foxhound_fox
I love how companies try to make their low-level jobs sound important and exciting. You're not a gas pumper - you're a fuel technician! You're not a bank teller, you're a customer service officer! You're not a deli waiter, you're a sandwich artist!
Dishwasher. I luv my job. No seriously! Free food/drinks, Cool people and the people are nice to me. :)i-like-pie
ya, a job can turn into a great job if the people are great.
Worked on a farm milking cows, shoveling crap, and move hay bales. For five bucks a day. It sucked.TwiztidJoker
a day? what country is this?

Maybe he was just really young and working for his parents. Most people's first job would be doing some odd chores around the house for beans, but they probably wouldn't consider that their first job.

I have friends who are paid cash-in-hand too and they're eighteen. I've always wondered if it's legal, since they don't pay taxes whereas my pay is taxed before I get it. I don't see why they should get to dodge it.I have friends who are paid cash-in-hand too and they're eighteen. It depends who they're working for. But if they're being paid cash-in-hand, they probably aren't making enough to really matter when it comes to taxes. If you're talking about mowing lawns and such, none of those people would even make it into a taxable situation by the end of the year. And if they're working for their parents, the 'wages' could be called 'gifts,' and would be perfectly legal and perfectly untaxable, at least where I live.
