[QUOTE="foxhound_fox"][QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"]Well actually in regards to "thou shalt not kill"...that is for individual acts. Legal acts are not the same thing....just to clear that up. In fact, the death sentence was imposed on Jesus.LJS9502_basic

Still, that doesn't make it right. Just because the "law is the law" doesn't mean that it isn't violating people's morals.

The law isn't left up to individual morals...if so there could be no law. Society as a whole decideds the law. Not individuals.

This thread was never meant to be about how the laws are decided, but rather self-described Christians saying things along the lines of, "I hope that guy gets the chair."

Well that goes to the humanity of people. Shocking I know but because one is Christian...it doesn't make one super human or above the foibles of humanity. Humans make mistakes, the contradict themselves, and they aren't perfect. I don't understand why you (generic you) would believe that because one subscribes to a faith that makes them above mistakes.

I read the context in the whole quote. It wasn't about victims being given the death penalty until YOU stated that. Hence, the reason I first replied that no one had stated that. Perhaps you may want to reread the thread to refresh yourself. That statement was made only by YOU and was not the subject of discussion.LJS9502_basic

Actually, I DIDN'T state that.

I think you need to pay more attention to what you're reading.

Nice try SpaceMoose, should've seen this leftist ball coming from a mile away. The Death Penalty is just common sense in SOME cases. For example, our worthless, disgusting Supreme Court today ruled that the Death Penalty for Child Rapists in "Unconstitutional". This is the most outrageous thing I've ever heard. How can anyone NOT advocate killing a child molester?MarineJcksn
I advocate not killing child molesters.

I guess from my perspective adherence to a religion is more about actions based on beliefs than the supposed beliefs themselves, and to be frank about it, most Christians I know don't really act any more in line with the New Testament than most non-Christians I know. They lie just as much. They make negative assessments of people just as much (and I dare say in many cases perhaps even more so), and so on. The only notable difference that I see among most of them is that they celebrate Christmas and Easter as religious holidays, MAYBE go to church weekly, and say that they believe in it. I suppose that is the larger issue at play here.

Now I could contrast this with, just to name a simple example, Amish people (and I realize that Amish are Christian) who clearly behave differently based on their religion. I'm not saying that I agree with their beliefs, but at least they aren't completely full of it and that they actually believe their doctrine is evident in their behavior; they actually behave differently in some way from a person who isn't particularly religious. (Incidentally, as I just now looked up out of curiosity, they are officially very much opposed to the death penalty.)

Yeah you quoted me...and the quote had nothing to do with the death penalty.

You really need to stop. It's really just pathetic how you've hijacked this thread in a sad attempt to try to tell me what I was talking about.

I made no mention of the death penalty in that quote. But rather than actually contributing to the discussion that we were having, you once again decide to derail the conversation in a stupid attempt to be right. Thing is, all you're doing is trying to tell me what I was talking about.

"You were talking about victims getting the death ppenalty!"

Uh...no I WASN'T. End of ****ing story. That's completely clear if you actually read my conversation with MarineJackson, and if you can't understand the conversation, that's YOUR ****ing problem.

Does it not make less sense for someone who does not believe in eternal punishment to endorse the death penalty?

That's funny, because before you started with your bull****, MarineJackson was the ONLY who I replied to. :|

So let me ask, are you incapable of following a conversation, or are you intentionally lying? And if you are just intentionally making **** up, do you REALLY think that no one is gonna notice, when the original ****ing quote tree is only two pages back?

Whatever dude, you can keep on with your bull****. You're a total ****ing waste of my time. I try to make a point not to feed the trolls.

[QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"][QUOTE="MrGeezer"]

And on average, did THEY think that it would have been better if they had been killed?

MrGeezer

For the third time...this thread is about the death penalty...not rape victims. I fail to see a point in this line of argument.:|

This line of argument was about the death penalty FOR RAPE.

Hey, it's not my fault if you can't follow an argument.

And I'll ask you same question...;)
