I try daydreaming from time to time. It's certainly the most entertaining way to sleep.

Nice sig. Thanks.[QUOTE="sammyjenkis898"]One day, Brutal will reply in a thread that isn't just a quote.Brutal_Elitegs
On the recliner (where I spend at least half of my time sleeping), I don't have to do anything. I somehow fall asleep much easier on that. But when it somes to sleeping in bed, I typically do the same sort of thing, coming up with some random scenario to help clear my head.
Lately it's been difficult to go to sleep, too many things in my mind. What I usually do is think about my goals, objectives and everything I wanna do, before I know it, I'm sleeping like a baby and not even a hurricane can wake me up.
When I'm traveling, wether it's a bus or a plane or train I can fall sleep easily, but if I want to. If not I can stay awake the entire ride.
Huh, I thought that stuff was banned.[QUOTE="SteverXIII"][QUOTE="konvikt_17"]lately ive just been drinking a four loco.konvikt_17
it was.
in 2010 it came back, but they removed the caffeine, tuarine, and guarana. basically watered it down, so its not as potent and dangerous as it once was.
Ah right, good thing too.
Wow, I envy the people saying they take an hour to fall asleep, who in turn are envying the people who fall asleep immediately. I'd kill to be able to fall asleep in an hour "normally." Unless conditions are absolutely right, I will not fall asleep for upwards of seven or eight hours (basically the entire night).
- No gaming (or anything exciting) an hour before bed, and no caffeine or sugar 5+ hours before.
- Take sleep aid.
- Wait two hours.
- Either read or watch TV until drowsy.
- Put on soft music, soundtracks work well.
- I have approximately one hour before the window of opportunity closes.
Been this way for about ten years now. I've tried all sorts of things; meditating, working out (which is what I usually do after pills but before drowsy now), melatonin, turkey, whatever. Any deviation from the schedule results in an extremely long period of time tossing around or not sleeping at all. Having to take sleep aids every night is terrible for me, but so is never sleeping. I've experimented many times where I completely stopped for about a month to try and wean myself off them, but all that resulted in was a trip to the hospital for exhaustion. Oh well, I've accepted I'm doomed forever.

Exercise before bedtime is a surefire way to stay awake. It gets your body going and keeps you from getting to sleep. Bad move.
It takes me an hour or two to fall asleep. Sometimes it can take hours. I do the same day dream bit too. Im always day dreaming when im in bed. I also cannot sleep without a fan. It cools me down, & the sound of the fan relaxes me. Without a fan & day dream i cannot sleep.
Also when i know i have to get to sleep quickly, when i know i have to get up early ( for work, or what ever ) i actually find those days really hard on me. Ill say to myself "if i go to sleep now ill get 5 hrs of sleep before work". An hour later im still not asleep yet & i say to myself " if a fall asleep now i get 4 hrs of sleeps'. Repeat this every hour until morning.
Im one of those people that has to have 9 or more hours of sleep to even be mildly satisfied with sleep, so the closer it gets to the time i have to wake up, the harder it gets for me to fall asleep ( becuz my body gets so irritated when i know im not going to get enough sleep that my body then refuses to go to sleep )
Does that make sense?

Depends on the person & how much excercise they do. I for one go to the gym, lift weights, do some Boxing, & then go outside for a nonstop 40 minute 8 KM run. Thats 2 or more hours of brutal exercise. By the time im done i can sleep for 12 hrs straight.
Hard exercise can put your body to sleep real fast because your body & your brain are dead tired & need to re - energize by resting.

I think he means exercise right before bed like an hour before bed.I do the same "daydream" thing. It helps get me to sleep quicker for some reason. JML897I can't fall asleep without telling a perfect life scenario in my head. Been doing so since I was 12 I believe.

You would think that would be the case but I work out at the gym 3 days, then a day off and repeat the cycle over and I still can barely sleep. Not like I do anything easy. My workout is pretty intense and I do run like 6-8 miles 3 times a week. I get from like 2-4 hours a sleep on average.I just think of whatever pops into mind but nothing too serious. A glass of wine can make it much easier to doze off, sometimes I go for a 2 glasses for a quick and distraction free sleep starter.
[QUOTE="Lovely637"][QUOTE="horgen123"]Listen to music... Until I am about to pass out. horgen123I do the same thing too. what music usually make your eyes drop? Almost anything... System of a Down, David Guetta, Infected Mushroom, Eminem, Dr. Dre, Trivium... lol what ? infected mushroom and system of a down make you fall asleep ? That's interesting. Do you lay there all night sometimes with music blasting in you ears ? But seriously I thinkn more people should consider listening to audiobooks while they sleep. I think you can accumulate knowledge that way.
