In California it's pretty much customary to drive about 15mph over the speed limit on the freeway in the center lanes. That generally means 80mph in the fast lane. There are idiots who still tailgate you at that speed which is crazy. I usually change lanes so I can roll down my window and yell, flip them off and challenge them to a dual. I'm trying to not do that anymore though...

I always notice them, but I don't let them get to me. If they want to go faster, they can go around for all I care. Unless, I'm in the left lane for no reason, they can **** off.

Lol I used to break check hardcore. But I'm a bit more mature these days. I just go the same speed.

I slow down ... what they are doing is dangerous. I was driving home from uni this afternoon and some woman thought it was good to tailgate me when I was doing 100k's (the speed limit). She was literally less than a second behind me (I measured it through looking at signs). If I had to stop for some reason (e.g. animal) she would have ran straight into the back of me and caused me serious injury. I slowed down to 80. I don't care if you are in a rush, DON'T TAILGATE ME WHEN I'M DOING 100 F***ING KILOMETRES AN HOUR!!

I tend to slow down below the speed limit by 5 or more and another thing I do is brake check them. I hate tailgaters because most of the time I am already going over the speed limit as it is.

I ignore them. Generally, I stay in the right line on highways, and only use the left lane to pass. If I am passing, I'm still not gonna go faster than I feel comfortable with, and people behind me can just deal with it.

depends on the road. if i'm on a multi-lane highway i'll switch lanes to let them by. if it's a single lane i'll usually slow down to piss them off

You have a tailgater. Who's probably already aggrevated because you're driving slow. So you slow down to make them angry.

Why would you purposely try to cause a situation?

I either stay the same speed, or if I'm in the faster lanes on the freeway, I switch over.

Seems like most OTers like to fight bad driving... with more bad driving.

It doesn't even necessarily have to be about making them angry. The fact is, if someone's driving way too close, then slowing down gives them more time to react if you've gotta stop suddenly for some reason. They're forcing the person ahead of them to slow down in order to reduce the risk of a collision.

slow down and generally ignore my rearview to pretend I don't notice them.
