look at this ****, another idiot who thinks she is better than me because she is the teacher :xGazaAli
It happens sometimes. It happened to me too. I let it go. It's not worth it getting on their s*** list.

Still, as someone who has got far enough to teach people, I'd expect her to notice the difference. I'd be worried if one of my teachers took something like that and applied it to everything with Roman numerals. It reminds me of when everyone in my class thought apostrophes were used in every word with an 's' at the end. I was 8. :|At some point your teacher was probably reprimanded herself for calling Henry the Eighth 'The Eight Henry', resulting her incorrect assumption about WWII. Unfortunately this rule does not apply to all things that have a VIII attached, or a II or two in this case. As has been covered in this thread already, the correct terms are:
WWII - World War Two or the Second World War
Henry II - King Henry the Second.
Try not to berate her too much for her mistakes - nobody's perfect - and politely pointing out that you're right is so much more satisfying than stooping to her level and being petty about it :P

This is somehow frustrating and depressing. I learned English by myself since I was young. Just because some people are in the position of being teacher and instructor does not make them automatically better than me at English. I mean I swear I can teach this supposed to be highly qualified teacher a lesson or two.GazaAliSame thing happened to me, and my sister. I live in France and I've pretty much always been better than all of my english teachers except one (who actually spoke english as her first language). They always made horrible mistakes and would always try to correct me even if what I'm saying is perfectly correct. They must have some kind of inferiority complex around us or something.

You must be a teacher :P
Well a children's librarian isn't far removed from a teacher I suppose  But I do stand by what I said, the English language is a strange and complex thing, making a mistake doesn't necessarily mean that she isn't a good teacher.I really am starting to like your posts. :)
And i completely agree with you.

Also, she is supposed to be superior since she is teaching English in an American foundation.
World War Two or The Second World War.
I have never heard it called World War the Second. Sounds like a bad translation or something.
First there was World War..........
Then came, World War II....
This summer, brought to you from the flaming pits of terrorists everywhere comes....
WORLD WAR III
I hate teachers who have this kind of mindset. you can call WWII anything you want, as long as you establish that it was the second world war.Is it World war two, or world war the second?
I say this because today I said "World war two" and the teacher told me "not like this, its world war the second".
GazaAli
I've never heard anyone pronounce it "world war the second". The official name for it is World War 2. Tell your teacher some random 22-year-old from Cleveland disagrees with how she/he pronounces that.
