[QUOTE="BumFluff122"]It is your personal opinion on not liking the car. Is this really the best argument you can come up with on why gas powered cars should be placed above fully electric or even hybrid cars? Your opinion on it being pretty or not?

It looks like crap, is small, and is slower than molasses. Sorry, people aren't going to buy it unless it can directly compete with gas-powered cars. And I'm sure they eventually will. You just have to wait until they can come out with the technology.

What does looks have to do with anything it's a car it takes you from point a to point b who cares what it looks like.

Personally, I like to think BP caused the oil spill. Maybe that's just me. :?

Absolutely not. Offshore drilling shouldn't be allowed to begin with. OR nuclear power. They all come with extreme risks. And no matter what anyone tells you they aren't safe.EMOEVOLUTION

:| Wait what about nuclear power? Its the safest and most powerful energy source out there.. Nuclear power platns are advanced now never to have something like a Chenrobyl happen again.. Its one of the main things I disagree with the environmentalist movement about.

It costs $20k+ without tax subsidies. It's still slow, ugly, and impractical. They're not going to sell as much as gas-powered cars until they can make them directly compete with them. For now it's just a niche market. However I can see most cars going hybrid in the near future.

It's our fault for having an addiction to oil.

I saw this comment on an article about Sarah Palin blaming the oil spill on environmentalists and I feel it fitting. Blaming this on environmentalists is like placing the blame on a car owner for getting his radio stolen because he locked his door so the thief had to break the window to get to it.

A top speed of 90 mph isn't fast. You must not know much about cars buddy...

SpartanMSU

Well 'buddy'. When was the last time you legally drove over 90 miles/144 kilometers on city streets? Or even on highways? The FACT is that it can get the job done.

Yeah, it can get the job done, but they're are countless other vehicles out there that get it done better. And it's top speed being 90mph means that it has what, like 100 hp? if that? It's slow. I like to have a car that's somewhat fun to drive. That car wouldn't be.

I'm afraid it's an American culture thing. I've never really caught onto it myself, but it centers around the fact that a vehicle should be more than just a transportation device, it represents one style and status. There are countless situations where people invest more in their cars than in their homes. It's kinda strange :P

Like I said, it gets the job done. If YOU like to have a car that's fun to drive that's great. If you want to have a powerful car that looks good tat's cool. Others like to have a car that is environmentally friendly and they may even like the looks of it too. I mean there is a reason why it's sold out a year and a half before the release date. You're talking personal opinion.

If you really wanted a fast car might I suggest the 440 horsepower Nissan Hybrid Racecar? http://www.gasmileageace.com/nissan-altima-hybrid-race-car/

Here is a small list of hybrid cars and trucks that look fairly similar to non-hybrid and non-electric: http://www.greencarreports.com/blog/1043392_green-car-tip-hybrid-vehicles-get-discounts-incentives-too

I know I once owned a couple of Cameros. Younger people always enjoy the power they get behind the wheel. I don't think that electric cars are geered toward the younger audience though.

It's fairly quick around lower speed ranges, but 90 mph is far slower than most vehicles capabilites. Speed limits aren't really fast...

It has a top speed of 144km/h. The top speed along the Trans Canada Highway around where I live is 100 or 110km/h. I think most people could get by almost anywhere in the world with a car that was that fast. Especially in the city, which this car was basically built for. People can say it won't go 150mph all they want but what good will a car that goes that fast do you in a city?

It isn't practical to have a ridiculously fast car... at all. Rather wreckless to drive beyond it's top speed on normal roads. It's just not a particularly fast top speed in comparison to most other vehicles out there.

That, however, is not the point I'm making. The posted said the car was slow. I stated that, while it may be 'slow' compared to the maximum of other cars it still would be very adequate, even more than adequate, for city driving, which the car was made for. I've seen estimates that the batery will go 100 miles on a single charge.

Before you go all ninja flaming on me, let me explain myself. Environmentalists made a law saying that you cannot drill in shallow waters. (Close to the shore) so BP had to drill out deep right? If they were drilling near the shore it probably would not have happened because of how easier it is. And would be easier to clean.

dunl12496
Can you or someone please show me where environmentalists made a law or laws that kept oil companies from drilling outside of deep water drilling please? Deep water wells produce oil 20 times faster than standard wells. Regardless BP put saving costs over safety. They ignored their own engineers advice. A lot of their internal documents show that consistently put cutting costs above safety. Not only once or twice, but consistently. Also during Oil man Dick Cheney's energy policy he didn't require blowout caps because they would cost $500,000 and that would be too expensive for the poor oil companies. Many or most other countries require them. Also some countries require a relief well to be simultaneously made. Again not required by Cheney's energy policy because they didn't want to make the oil companies pay more money. Profits above safety pretty much all around seems to be what this comes down to. Please, if you can show somewhere where environmentalists made a law preventing drilling closer to shore please let me know.
