I act humble but secretly want attention, but when I get it I find myself uncomfortable and downplay the attention or kind words and it accidently gives the impression that I am a humble person when in reality I generally just lack confidence.

Sometimes I'm like that as well. Same here. It's very conflicted. For me though, I want attention for things I don't have or for what I'm not. I sometimes don't think I deserve attetnion, aside from the good qualities I have which I don't think people notice as much as I'd like.

I'm surprisingly very humble. I never boast, unless it's on the internet, which is still not that much. Like now, I'm kinda boasting about being humble, lol. :P
I'm very humble, which tends to drive friends mad since I refuse to take credit for my hard work, for helping others and for making it through my life as I have.
I don't see the point to bragging about things, it's meaningless. Better to just get on with what needs done and leave any glory hunting for those who like having a swelled ego.
I guess I'm pretty humble. In real life I pretty much never boast. Online on things like Vent I sometimes boast and act like I have a big ego but that's just for laughs and such.
I was going to say that I'm a rather humble person, but that would require me actually accomplishing things and having things to potentially be proud of. Rather I'll have to call myself self-deprecating or self-loathing.
More so than I used to be, but I still catch myself using unnecessarily complicated and pompous verbiage to make myself appear more intelligent than I actually am. Kind of like I did just there.
I don't like the concepts of either pride or humility. As far as I'm concerned, understating your achievements is just as great a crime to your capabilities as overstating them.

I don't like to boast about past achievements... but at the same time I will demand credit for something I did and for which no credit was given to me.
I learned to not be so humble when it comes to school and especially work. Not as a mean to boast about my achievements, but as a way to convey I would be a valuable asset to any company I am interviewing for, that I can own up to my success and failure. But I also had to learn to state my past success in a matter-of-fact manner to appear professional
Privately, I'm more than happy to stay in the shadow
I don't want to judge my character by myself.I will let the people decided whether I'm humble or not because just by saying you are humble doesn't make you humble.

I am humble by nature, and I don't like being boastful and haughty.

Ironically, that statement in and of itself is boastful. "Hey everyone, look at me I'm so humble!" Not really. It's just a trait of mine which has also been observed by others. Therefore, I can safely say that I am humble. I don't always see it as a good thing, though, as most of my "humility" has come from my self-loathing and self-deprecation.
