I remember when it first came out and I heard it had a lot of problems.
Is it any better now?
Should I make the plunge or should I stick with XP?

It's a better OS then XP, people just don't appreciate it or know it.FishSquared
I agree, it's because of ignorance. Yesterday at college I heard that people prefer Office 2003 than 2007, I was absolutely stunned, and they say it's because Office 2007 is so different, oh for god's sake! Why not they take time and get used to it? I find Office 2007 easier and neater; I work better with the latest stuff. Ignorant people is very annoying and hurts the modern world.
The two reasons I haven't upgraded to Vista:
1. It drops support for the classic Joystick port, and I still use my joystick port for my Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro joystick for my flight sims.
2. It drops 16-bit support and I sometimes play older games.
I could dual-boot but I just can't justify buying Vista. There's nothing having Vista would change for me. With Windows 7 so close, may as well just wait.
I've used both XP and Vista... On my main gaming rig, XP only.Vista is a much better OS than XP. I don't get why some people and businesses stick with XP... :?

I'd be using Windows 98 SE if still I could, if it weren't so unstable or unusable / unsupportable now. ME was a bloated 98 SE.
XP is still a very venerable supported OS. Use it for as long as you can.
Stay away from Vista and don't let the technology pushing mongers here sway you otherwise. Ignornance is bliss sometimes. I still think Analog, however crude it was, is a better form than "tiling" Digital. heh.
Battlestar Galactica never upgraded and survived a technology driven holocaust!
I'm using it now. The problems were really over-hyped. But then again I know next to nothing about computer mechanics.

Nice last line there genious. And Vista is fine, I am using it now. It's even bigger crap than ever, it's constantly deleting some of it's system files. So I decided to buy a mac book - it's way better and more expensive, but anyway I like it.I remember when it first came out and I heard it had a lot of problems.

service pack 1 fixed alot of its stability issues, as does abit of tweaking its settings. compatibility issues with older software/drivers are still there.
though there's probably not much you're going to need unless you want to run vista-only games, so i would probably wait for windows 7.
obv. don't change to vista now if you're on a comp which has less than 2gb ram and only a single core processor.
