Its alot more complicated then that.. The reason why tehy want to stop FUNDING is because they do not believe anything good can come from the war at hand.. And the only positive predictions of the surge have come from the same think tanks that have been wrong in every prediction when it came to the Iraqi War.

And soldiers are not fighting for our freedoms... They are fighting to stabalize a country that was invaded for reasons that were deemed as utterly false.. Nor are they fighting for terrorism when it comes to Iraq, numerous reports have shown that AQ was non existent and Saddam hated them with a passion. Now it has become a breeding gorund for terrorist, so bad that reports have shown that it is now more dangerous then it was before we invaded the country..

Any rational person should not fund or agree with the incompetence this war has been given.. Our goal was terrorism.. In the end we basically let Bin Ladin go when he was cornered, and now the Taliban is coming back as well in Afghanistan.

So what we have done is increase terrorism, let the figure head of AQ free, further distabilised the middle east, further cause extreme hatred to the US with Abu Ghurub, allowing torture etc..

Why should we as a nation fund this what so ever, when the only way can change the path of the war is by cutting funding.

Even If we did not have that great of a reason for starting this war, to pull out would be totally incompetent, as Iraq has far too much strategic valure to let descend into civil war. People who say we should leave the Iraqis to their own devices simply don't realize the strategic value of Iraq. We can allow the situation that is going on throughout central Africa to happen in Iraq

Fighting for freedoms? We've already won the Iraq war, so at this pont we should begin to pull back, not act as an occupying force as the iraqis basically see us at this point, and it's making it very easy to recruit for these anti west organizations becouse of the amount of hate we are creating towards the west, and invading Iran would only make it easier. Invading Iran would be the biggest miliatry blunder since vietnam, Iran is nothing compared to Iraq, it would not be a simple cakewalk it was, and the economic damage and damage to the U.S. would be critical especially at this very critical time where china is right behind us economically, and just allow them to catch up faster and detrown the U.S. as the sole superpower.....

If i am right, Iraq was Just as advanced as Iran as seen in the Iran, Iraq war. in the invasion of Iraq we only lost 50 troops. compared to the Iraqis which lost their entire military, most surrendered. and As of now the US economy is over 3.5 trillion dollars over China the economic damage would not be that great

hmm, let's see...last i checked, the US economy became the Best in world history under the control of the republicans..

becouse the republicans basic economic plan is to borrow and spend while they cut taxes, which in the end will be very damaging to our economy becouse the massive debt that they've accomulated will have to eventually be paid off. Their method of economic gain has been economci imperialism instead of investing in it's own people, it allows major corperations to basically rape the resorces and labor of developing countrys, which will work for a while, but as other nations develop we won't be able to take advantage of them, and other countrys that have invested moreso in their own people like they are doing in the East will be far more competitive than us in industry, we are already begining to see this in industrys like automotive.....

we really cant compare Rome to the USA because the Romans lived almost 2000 years ago, and used swords and spears. We live now, in the present. Instead of using swords and spears, we use machine guns, rocket artillery, main battle tanks, jet figters, and most powerful, nuclear warheads. Life has changed since then. warfare has changed since then, civilization has changed since then. Almost everything but the natural world around us has changed over the last two millenia

Please explain to me how invading a country with a force of swords and arrows, that, can move as fast a horse if they're lucky, is quicker than say the Nazi war machine? And we'll be ICBM proof eh? Well thats great, I really hope it works out. But another new and powerful weapon will come along, it always does.

The U.S will last a very long time seeing as we are one of the major driving forces of the economy of the world. As far as being the number 1 superpower, I can definitely see that happening, maybe in the next 20 years.

we now have an operating Missle Defense system, it uses a 3 tier system, the first is the Aegis long range missle which can cover all of the continental United States, It shoot from Either submarines or land mased silos and travels through space killing the warhead. The second Tier is THAAD, Terminal High Altitude Area Defense It has a range slightly less than Aeigis but relies on Kinetic Energy to Kill the Warhead rather than Conventional missles. it has an outstanding accurac rate. the Third Tier is the Patriot Missle which is useful for taking out SCUDS, Aircraft and all objects basically its the last line of defense. There is also, the Airborne laser which can shoot down missles from roughly 200 miles away. The US is nearly Invurnerable to missle attacks

The U.S will last a very long time seeing as we are one of the major driving forces of the economy of the world. As far as being the number 1 superpower, I can definitely see that happening, maybe in the next 20 years.

and how does this mitigate my point on us still being in iraq? The people wasnt us out and we are spending billions of dollars when they already have a stable centralized goverment, the people want us out, and we are only creating hatred towards the U.S. and the west which will in likelyhood increase the chances of an attack upon the U.S. or one of it's allies. Iran has a far larger miliatry, is far more nationalistic, and has a backwards and complex terrain unlike Iraq, and on top of that our military is streched out as far as it possibly be, so soley based upon that, we'd have difficulty invading. The economic damage and damage to our reputation would severly damage the U.S. and becouse of an invasion of Iran we would likely be dragged into a conflict with Pakastan, and lebonon, occupation and conflic would likely last 15+ years and with that, the U.S. will no longer be a super power, China I'm sure would gladly take our place.

Invading Iran would be the biggest miliatry blunder since vietnam, Iran is nothing compared to Iraq, it would not be a simple cakewalk it was, and the economic damage and damage to the U.S. would be critical especially at this very critical time where china is right behind us economically, and just allow them to catch up faster and detrown the U.S. as the sole superpower.....

If i am right, Iraq was Just as advanced as Iran as seen in the Iran, Iraq war. in the invasion of Iraq we only lost 50 troops. compared to the Iraqis which lost their entire military, most surrendered. and As of now the US economy is over 3.5 trillion dollars over China the economic damage would not be that great

and how does this mitigate my point on us still being in iraq? The people wasnt us out and we are spending billions of dollars when they already have a stable centralized goverment, the people want us out, and we are only creating hatred towards the U.S. and the west which will in likelyhood increase the chances of an attack upon the U.S. or one of it's allies. Iran has a far larger miliatry, is far more nationalistic, and has a backwards and complex terrain unlike Iraq, and on top of that our military is streched out as far as it possibly be, so soley based upon that, we'd have difficulty invading. The economic damage and damage to our reputation would severly damage the U.S. and becouse of an invasion of Iran we would likely be dragged into a conflict with Pakastan, and lebonon, occupation and conflic would likely last0+ years and with that, the U.S. will no longer be a super power, China I'm sure would gladly take our place.

The people of Iraq, hate these terrorist groups, and with their military and police force of almost 200,000, they are well equipt to deal with this problem on their own. Continued occupation isn't going to allow them to further stabalize their military becouse they are stabalized, and continued occupation if anything will make their work harder becouse we are helping create hatred for the U.S. and west, which makes recruiting easier.
