I was under the impression that the only reasons people took them were the gpa boost and cheap college credit.

That was why I took them, at least. It definitely wasn't because I enjoyed them.

my two HS insisted that to be good at it you need to take AP. i have a bunch of friends whos AP courses didnt count for anything worthwhile in their major. and hardly afforded them credits. the best thing to do from what ive seen is to just take those courses over again in college. cause then you get the credits. youll probly get an A and that will help your college GPA out a hell of a lot

[QUOTE="thepwninator"][QUOTE="SkweebsThePanda"] yeah i dont get it, i should write an email to the ap people asking for them to explain it because my test had alot more questions than what you guys arew talking about. i sure it got at least a 4 on it, at the least.SkweebsThePanda
Just think of a 5 as being an A, a 4 as being a B, and so on. You can have a lot of questions on, say, a math test, but, in the end, you get something that can be classified as an A, B, C, D, or F.

dude i seriously am not getting this. if i have a test that is 100 questions and itso nly out of 5 and i get at least some of it right ill get a 5. what does it matter what the letter is?

It's not out of five, though. It's like you get a 5 if you get 80% (or so) of ALL the questions on the test right.

Think of it this way-on your normal tests, I'd guess you usually have less than 100 questions, right? Questions can be worth more than one point. With AP tests, they're worth WAY less than one point.

At the beginning of high school I was in the lower classes due to my horrid grades in previous years. As time passed in high school I started doing better and took several honors classes and an AP class. The AP class I took was AP Art and I made a 4. I was unfamiliar with the style I was using for my concentration so I did not do as well as I would after I had taken the class. I adapted photographs I had taken into what looked like comic book art. If I had not waited so late to start doing well in school I would have taken more AP classes. Also, I could have cared less about getting college credit at the time. Even still, I'm going to graduate school in the Fall and am going to intentionally take some classes over again that I've already had. Going back to Hebrew and Greek basics ftw!

I took 7 of them and 5 were taken by A&M. My U.S. History was worth 6 hours alone. I believe I received 22 credit hours out of it. Got all 3's and 4's, but A&M wouldn't take 2 of them.

I personally enjoyed them. I took a regular Chem class because the AP in the subject was an ass and I didn't like the Socratic method being his excuse not to teach. It was easy, but I was bored out of my mind. Of course the nice GPA boost was very helpful. Also, if it weren't for the 22 credit hours I received, I would be really behind, because of some course choices I took put me a semester behind other Engineers. Then on top of that, I went and did the Disney College Program this semester. Instead of being a year and a half behind, I am only a year now, and that makes a lot of difference when it comes to tuition and such. Pay 250 for the 5 tests that they did take for me, or pay 9000 for another semester. To those that think it is a waste of time, it isn't. If you don't take them, it is a waste of money.

I don't remember how many, but I only passed one of the tests

I got As and Bs in the classes, but I'm just a poor test taker. Especially when it comes to standardized type testing.

Good Lord, is that what the American university admissions process has devolved into? Anyway, I went to a Canadian high school, but we offered APs. A lot of kids who wanted to go to US colleges took a million APs, but I only took three. One in grade 11 and two in grade twelve. First was Psychology and then Government & Politics alongside US History. I really didn't take them because they were APs, i just took them because the subjects interested me. I would've taken them even if they weren't APs. I got 5s on all three. AP exams, at least for humanities-related subjects, are pretty damned easy if you just study for them.

my high school had just begun the AP tests during my extra semester of school. i was offered to take the AP Bio test since i dominated biology in grade 12. but i respectfully declined. it would have got me no where for where im going.

I took Human Geography, Lang & Comp, Lit and Comp, Gov., and Physics. Only took half of HG because of a scheduling conflict with psyche. Would've taken Bio but again scheduling conflict.

Got a 3 on all cept physics which i bombed (not my fault about 4 of the subjects we never made it to in class) So I had zero idea how to do them.

I took US History, World History, Chemistry, Biology, English Language, government, economics, and Calculus AB (calculus was self-taught for me). I got 5's on all.thepwninator
Jeez you must have some awesome teachers. Ive taken about 5 AP tests and most of the stuff on there was never covered in class. Usually only about 5 people ever pass the test with 3s or 4s. I think only one person in the entire history of our school has gotten a 5 on any AP exam.

I was the only person in my school who took the World History AP test to get a five. The teacher was awful. He simply sat on his butt staring at Wikipedia all period and gave us these really lame projects every now and then.

All of the other teachers (except the Calculus AB teacher, of course) were very good, especially the chemistry and US history ones.

last year I took Environmental and American History and got 4's on both

this year I took Calc AB, Macroeconomics, and Physics B

I feel confident that I got a 4 or 5 on Calc and Macro

on Physics I don't think I did well, probably a 3 at best. I didn't study for a minute for it because I knew I couldn't get credit for it (I'm going into engineering so I need to make sure I get a good science background by taking introductory physics and chem courses at college rather than placing out of them) so it was just going to be a waste of time for me to try to ace the test

AP US History, AP Calculus BC, AP Physics C, AP Macroeconomics, AP Psychology, AP English Literature, AP Spanish 4 (language). 5's on all, except for Psychology, which I did not take because my college offers no credit of any kind for it.

I didn't take any AP's in High School. I somewhat regret not taking an AP since it could have knocked off a few credits now that I'm in college.

Statistics was brutal and the grading was cruel.Aquat1cF1sh

My AP Statistics class was pretty tough, but the AP test itself was the easiest test I ever took...ever. It was easier than anything I took in middle school, high school, college...it was easier than the damned driving test.

I came out of the test, turned to my friend, and said "I'd be shocked if I got a single question wrong."

I don't know if got every question right, but I did get a 5.

That said, I've heard a lot of people complain that the test is one of the more difficult ones. It must just be the way peoples' brains are oriented.

I only got 3s on US and European history, while a lot of my friends did better.

So far, AP US History. For my Junior and Senior years, I want to take AP Calc or AP Stat, AP Euro, AP Gov., and AP Psychology. For the APUSH test, I skipped a lot of the multiple choice, but I feel like I did good on the essays. The DBQ was really easy, though I did forget to mention the most obvious answer. Overall, I'd be happy with a 2, even though it's not a passing grade.
