I have all four of them still going strong(they' re 76 and 75 from my mom's side and 84 and 82 from my dad's - grandfather and grandmother respectively). I' m only asking because all people of my age(20) I know have lost one or more of them.

How about you OT?

I think the correct term of question would be " Are both of your grandparents still living? " But Yes they are :)

None. Lost the first one 3 or 4 decades ago and lost the last one about 5 years ago. And my god mother last year. Fortunately my parents are still here as well as my wife's parents, but we will probably start losing them within 5 years.

2. Both of my dad's parents are dead. Honestly I'm pretty amazed my mom's mom is still alive. She has had like 3 major surgeries in the past 5 years.

does anyone else here think that if your parents can live for another 15-20 years, health care technology and the technology that will be around in the future will extend their lives for another 20-30 years? its kind of like a race against time...

20-30 years is a significant life prolongation. I hope it will be possible but I doubt it.

My father's mother died when I was about 2, my mother's father died when I was about 16, my father's father died when I was about 21 (he was 97), and my mother's mother is still alive at around the age of 85. In other words, one is still living.

even 10 years can make a big difference, i think i read somewhere that health care in 10 years will be like 1000x better then it is now, but genome sequencing is getting cheaper by the day and scientists are making some serious progress in the health field,

advanced, more detail MRI systems, robotic surgeries getting better and better, scanning technologies getting better and better by the day, scientists are slowly unraveling the human brain with supercomputers and how the brain works, nanotechnology, all this is very promising,i hope this future technology can save many lives including our parents ...

yeah man it sounds very promising, us humans are moving at a ridicolous rate technology wise, pretty hard to believe we have all these things we have today... i even read somewhere there will be a good amount of baby boomers still alive in the late 21st century/early 22nd century

That last part seems like science-fiction to me. Who knows? Maybe it' s time for humanity to do its greatest leap towards technological advancement and therefore in healthcare as well. I know I' ll be eager to know of any new amazing discoveries.

I mean it doesnt sound too far off though, i dont know if you heard of the Singularity but its when supercomputers are finally smarter then us and these machines will just be rapidly upgrading them selves at exponential rates and probably just about every aspect of our technology will be radically changed by these ultraintelligent machines doing every single thing for us...they say it could be the last thing humanity ever needs to make. Of course this is all in the future, but look at where we are at now, its quite amazing really

I think the correct term of question would be " Are both of your grandparents still living?"AussieePet

That would be correct if you only had two grandparents. Most people, however, have four.

As I see it, it' s really a race against time for us and our parents(or loved ones in general). How many years we' ll live and on what conditions is all a matter of when such breakthroughs(like Singularity) will take place. One can only hope.
