[QUOTE="Zaeryn"]I live in Canada and ****ing hate it.FrostyPhantasmwhy? Well, there's quite a few reasons why I dislike Canada. Not to say it's a bad country, but it's not my sort of place I want to live. Luckily I'm allowed to move in a few years, and I'll probably move somewhere in Europe.
Subtle observations from my things my father have mentioned(hes canadian) made me think it was like a nice mix between Britian, southern France and America. Britians love of high taxs and decent public services, southern France taste in scenary and attitude of not starting wars(however canada are atleast better at fighting in them) and americas loving of fiting a great many things under one shop roof. This is probably completely wrong and totaly ignorant, but I've never been so I wouldn't know.Platearmor_6Thats actually a pretty correct statement
I live in Canada, and let me tell you how things work around here...
First of all, we dont live in igloos... we live in "cabins". Its kind of like those wooden houses made out of giant logs you see when you go camping. There is a public bus that goes around, but everyone perfers to tame a polar bear. Over here, you need a licence to tame and ride a polar bear.
And to what you americans call "7-Eleven", we also have general stores. We refer to them as "The trading post". They actually have this thing called a "Microwave" at the trading post. It warms up your bacon sandwhiches by using yellow light. I cant believe that american households have them.
There is snow all year round, even in July.

I took a class last semester on the hist/geog of Canada and learnd a lot about our neigbor to the north... more info then i real would ever need to know, but i guess it was helpful.
i know that its not a world power and contribute nothing to the worldlazybone187
wow. you really want somebody to respond. well there you go.
Anyway I'm from California and I'm one of the rare ones who actually knows about about Canada. (not sure how I can prove I didn't just hit Wikipedia before writing this, but it's all by memory)...
- Prime Minister: Steven Harper (or is it Stephen?)
- Gained independence from the UK in 1867
- 10 provinces and 3 territories
- has a French speaking province called Quebec
- has magnetic north on your Baffin Island up in the Arctic (in your national anthem I believe)
- population of about 33 million,
- uses metric instead of the imperial system
- proud of it's diversity and peace keeping stuff, many for "not being American".
Those are the essential ones...camreeno360
oh wow!! you know how to use google i'm proud of you!!
The truckers that drive on ice roads near Yellowknife are crazy.
German soldiers feared Canadian troops the most during WW1.
The Iroquios Confederation was from Canada.
The Royal Mounted Police look like National Park Rangers here in the states except they wear brown uniforms instead of red.
However I do have a question regarding Canada.
Do the territories have semi-automonous government? Like how states here can come up with there own laws.

Even if they don't I doubt anyone would notice (or care) if they decided to establish laws. No one pays any attention to the territories in Canada...they're several rungs lower than PEI or Nova Scotia, even.
I didn't think Americans even knew there was a world outside their borders? LMAO off at all the US tourists who come to Australia and think they get a cab from Sydney to Perth....a little bit closer than NY to LA by the way.kandre
That'd be quite the fare when they arrived at their destination.
[QUOTE="FreewayScruff"]I was watching speakers corner (canadian show) and this american kid comes on and says something along the lines of:
I'm sick of Canadians assuming americans know nothing about Canada when in fact we know a lot
We know that you guys have 12 STATES, that Tim Hortons is our 'President', that Toronto is the capital of Canada NOT OTTAWA and that we speak french, when thats really only true for Quebec, or as I call them seperatist (bad word)
Are all of you americans like this?fidosim
Yes we are. You know so much about us.
Yes, I mean you just couldn't figure out that were ALL like this little kid, i mean OF COURSE we are all at the same level of him, Duh it only makes so much sense!Anyway I'm from California and I'm one of the rare ones who actually knows about about Canada. Huh, even I didn't know that much about Canada, and I live here. But aren't there 12 provinces/territories, not 13?
[QUOTE="RosetaStoned"]I hear you guys have bagged milk.FrostyPhantasmIn ontario only
I live 10 minutes from the US border in BC. A while back one of our business associates in Arizona called us to tell us he was planning to come up for a visit and he wanted to know if we had general stores in Canada or would he have to bring up his own food. I guess he was under the impression that we all hunted for our own food up here.
As far as Canadians saying `abuut`, I have never heard my fellow Canadians pronounce it that way. However, my brother`s girlfriend is American (Bellingham, WA) and she claims we Canadians have an accent, although I can detect no difference in her pronunciations from mine aside from her pronouncing `roof` as `ruf`.
I do know that Canada is a better country than the US as far as caring for "the people" goes. musicXpirate
And they have better chronic(isn't it legal as well?)
You're using a TV show as a gauge. :| I suppose then we should wonder how much Canadians actually know about Americans.LJS9502_basic
Dylan and Brenda were meant to be together, Rosie O'Donnell kisses girls, thanks to Tim Allen I know "roof" is pronounced "ruff" and David Caruso solves crimes in sexy Miami.

you are teh 1337 !!!!
No, and I don't really want to know about Canada. Why should I care if I don't know anything about it? I don't ever plan on leaving America for multiple reasons, and I don't see much point to it.
"Are all Americans like this?"
Of course not! You can't base the entire American population off one person. That's stupid.
about three things.
-the ppl have dots for eyes
-there's only one road
-theres some guy named scott, and he's a dic!

And the top part of their heads pop off when they talk.
No the Queen pretty much has no say what so ever in Canada.Isn't Canada owned by the Queen of England(along with the US?), or some royal family?
Truth_Seekr
It's snowy, has good fishing, and a Prime Minister.
And it's also the place I'm going if Bush starts a draft.

Not really no. You can have .5 grams for medical reasons. HOWEVER, you won't be sent to jail or do much if any hard time for being caught with any. Usually the cops will just take it or take you down town for a bit and get a fine. So no, you can't walk down the street blazing it up infront of everyone.[QUOTE="Truth_Seekr"][QUOTE="FrostyPhantasm"][QUOTE="Truth_Seekr"]No the Queen pretty much has no say what so ever in Canada.Isn't Canada owned by the Queen of England(along with the US?), or some royal family?

just that out of the times I've been to Canada(3), I heard on my last tripas I was leaving, or rather I was asked by some cat at the airport if I visited their smokeshops. And of course, since I don't like to drink, tobacco or anything else but chronic every now and then, I figured it would've been nice to check something like that out, but by then it was to late since I was about to board my flight. So maybe next time if such a smoke shop exists, I'll visit it.
