How does secondary education work in the U.S? I'm aware that you don't have tests like A-levels, national tests on specific subjects, but I don't know what the SAT tests you do are, or what the whole grad average thing is.
I care a lot about them... I want to try to maintain a 3.7+ GPA in college. My first quarter went well (3.93) but I think I'll have to expend a lot more effort this quarter. The classes are requiring a lot more reading and a lot more writing. en-z-ioWow, I can't even imagine grades like that. Are you in the top 3 in your class?
Good grades are the only thing that will allow me to continue on to my second year of my bachelor's degree, so that's all I care about right now. Luncbox1I am in the exact same boat. And, so far, things are not looking promising :(

With a GPA of a 2.0 on my first semester here at Rice, I would be if they put freshmen on academic probation. I've had a few rather significant problems adjusting.
I kind of agree with your teacher, yes grades don't really matter that much, because in the end they just tell how well you can memorize a bunch of facts. There are a lot more things to be taken into account, like creativity, which cannot be measured with regular tests. With this I'm just trying to say that even if you have good grades, that doesn't mean you'll be successful in your business life,,,zemiguelsantosNot all cIasses focus on memorization.
Yup, I care very much about my grades, so I'm always gonna try to do good, but I'm not gonna start freaking out if they start to slip as long as I did all that I could to keep 'em high. Thankfully that hasn't happened yet :D
My Latin teacher (who is awesome) says that he doesn't really believe in grades and that he only gives them to us because he has to. However, he says that because he believes that he'd rather see us gain as much knowledge as possible and not focus on a simple number, because there's more to life than a number. I agree with that wholeheartedly, but I still care enough about my grades. I know that colleges, programs, scholarships, etc. all use and analyze grades, so it's important to do your best.t3hrubikscube
Wowa you know Latin also!! Salve! Quid Agis? :P

Pro Tip :High School Grades do not matter. I am perfectly happy with my 3.00 average, and my grades are all across the board.
Pro Tip :Always shoot for AP and Honor classes, they make great impressions, even if you get crap grades.

I still pulled a 3.00 because I have 4 weighted classes, AP FTW.
High School grades mean jack, take as many AP courses as you can.
Haha if I learned anything about high school, it's that AP's are such a waste of time and energy. From what I've seen most colleges will accept the person with the higher GPA over someone who took more AP classes and got a lower GPA. True, they do boost your GPA, but if you have the choice of taking a class and getting an easy A or taking the same class but AP, just do the normal class.Pro Tip :High School Grades do not matter.
