Pro Tip :High School Grades do not matter. I am perfectly happy with my 3.00 average, and my grades are all across the board.

Pro Tip :Always shoot for AP and Honor classes, they make great impressions, even if you get crap grades.

Here is my semster senior grades.

I still pulled a 3.00 because I have 4 weighted classes, AP FTW.

High School grades mean jack, take as many AP courses as you can.

It isn't always the smartest people who get the good grades. Just the people that get things done, you can be an idiot and still get an A so as long as you are not super lazy. But grades do matter, everyone will look back at your grades in the future.

I care about my grades, but I don't stress over them if I end up failing a class. I believe there are more important things in life than a couple of letters on a piece of paper.ernie1989

Agreed except I think that mostly in highschool and elementary school the teachers don't give a damn about you learning cause half the time you will never use that stuff again I once had a teacher that actually told the class that we will never be using this stuff again in our lives.

Meh, terrible grades. I probably would have tried harder but once I was accepted into my university I lost the will. I just learned the material and skipped the work.

I guarantee I care more about the actual material we learn then most in my classes, but I hate the busy work we get; it promotes memorization and not comprehension.

Still got my 3.00, and still love learning.

Sorry I sound a little egotistical, but that is how I truly feel about those marks. I find my time much better used clicking random on wikipedia then doing some dumb worksheet.

At least my school, we rarely APPLY our material and COMPREHEND it interacting with the real world. History should be the most interesting class ever but the book teaches it like it's removed and indifferent to any other event in history, current or past.

Anyway either way, I am going to college.

Also I may get better grades in normal classes, but it's a joke, I learn way more in the AP classes and find it much more my learnign level then any normal class.

In high school I didn't care at all about my grades, as reflected by my 2.1 GPA. Luckily I scored good enough on my ACT to get into college. Now I care about it alot more though obviously not enough since so far I only have a 3.27 GPA.

I care about grades a lot...maybe too much.
My stat teacher always says that grades shouldn't matter and in his class we shouldn't care what grade we get, as long as we do well on the AP exam. But i do care what grade I get in his class as it will affect my GPA....urgh

[QUOTE="fidosim"][QUOTE="thepwninator"] I am in the exact same boat. And, so far, things are not looking promising :(thepwninator
What do you mean? Are you on academic probation?

With a GPA of a 2.0 on my first semester here at Rice, I would be if they put freshmen on academic probation. I've had a few rather significant problems adjusting.

Well, at least you got accepted at Rice :-( ...But academic probation is usually anything below 2.0, so you would have just made it at most schools.

Well I don't care about my grades as much as the money the scholarships that my grades can get me. I don't care about getting into collage, becuase any collage I could want to go to, I would get into, except some of the Ive League schools, and other super selective schools. I do think that I learn more when I am not worrying about getting a good grade, like in a class I know I will do good in no matter what.

Haha if I learned anything about high school, it's that AP's are such a waste of time and energy. From what I've seen most colleges will accept the person with the higher GPA over someone who took more AP classes and got a lower GPA. True, they do boost your GPA, but if you have the choice of taking a class and getting an easy A or taking the same class but AP, just do the normal class.

It depends on where you go-public schools tend to not care, but private schools definitely do, especially the upper level ones, like Duke, Rice, Emory, the Ivies, etc.

I care a lot, thats why my animal development teacher giving tests so hard that if they were open-book it wouldn't raise your score pisses me off so much. I studied many hours, didn't do all-nighters, and ate and exercised, the whole deal. the class average for the final was 59, a C/C+ is 70-80 my grades were 82, 72, 64 (final). I got a C+ for the class. :( this was just this past fall, fresh in my memory. I swear I tried the final again (they let you keep the test paper)with my book next to me I was like WTF?
