Is music an intergal part of a movie? Thoughts?

The extent of the importance varies between films, but it is a key aspect. If you want to see how amazing music can be in a film just watch A Clockwork Orange.
But if not many people listen to orchestrated music on their own times, then how can good movie music make everyone feel good? Does that average person who watches movies even notice amazing and powerful scores playing? Does it move them emotionally, even if they only subconsiously notice it?
For some reason I doubt the Cure's music would fit Transformers...Most important. If only they let me do the soundtracks.....

Yeh, that includes choosing the right music for the right moment, or not using music for a moment at all. I hate it when there's a dramatic scene and some cheesy music comes up to try to over-dramatize it. :(Music can easily make or break a film.

Because the music is used to emphasise the visual image. I don't think you could help noticing the music when it's used well, like in "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly", to give another example.
Or even 2001 on this matter. The classical music was integral in my humble opinion. Kubrick was a master of music in this regard. The extent of the importance varies between films, but it is a key aspect. If you want to see how amazing music can be in a film just watch A Clockwork Orange.

I certainly can't think of anyone who has used music to better effect.

I doubt that would have been quite as epic if 'Close to Me' was on in the background. :P[QUOTE="TheOddQuantum"][QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"]
