Those early symphonies were pretty sh*tty... except the first one. I like that one.

Allright then. And yeah the Symphony 41 is great. I think in that movie the best ones are Kyrie from C minor mass and Don Giovanni comedatore scene.

themajormayor

Don Giovanni is indeed incredibly powerful and I always cite is as an example when Beethoven d!ckriders try to pretend that Mozart only makes light classical music with no emotional punch.

I always thought you were one of those:o

Nope. I like Beethoven and all, but I've never understood the obsession with him. I much prefer Mozart. I prefer Bach and Haydn as well.

Good I agree 100%. He's good but not that good. The only one that can compete with Mozart IMO is Bach.

I'll listen to anything.

Theres no such thing as a bad genre. A genre is a style, a type, therefore it can't suck, because, so long as is in the correct hands, any song can be a masterpiece regardless of genre.

What CAN be bad, is the artist.

Listen to metal probably 95% of the time. If not, I'll listen to classic rock, and a little classic punk too.

Mildly close minded. Chances are if it doesn't fall under the category of Punk, Rock, or Blues then I don't really "listen" to it. I like other stuff from outside those genres but I don't actively pursue them or buy their albums.

I like some older country. For instance, I like Glen Campbell. Galveston is a gorgeous song.

But then again, Pirate told me that Glen Campbell wasn't true country, and he's the expert on that particular genre.

Extremely. You have to be when you're the driving force behind a drone/noise/ambient outfit, frequent EDM festivals and have a number of indie bands to see over the next few months.

I listen to many genre of music but I still have standards.

Rap and Hip-Hop bore me because the beats are so damn repetitive. I prefer music with some progression, where the end of the song sounds completely different than the beginning, and the body of the piece transitions smoothly from beginning to end.

Country gets on my nerves because I don't like twangy guitar or lyrics. Metal annoys me because the guitars overpower everything (to the extent it sounds like the guitars waveform is truncated at the top end most of the time). Etc., etc.

But I still like a lot of music. Rock (most of its sub-genres), punk (the 70's and 80's stuff) jazz, swing, big band, etc. Hell, I even fire up some Gregorian chants every now and again.

Can't comment on the Jungle and Hardcore side of things since I'm a Trance guy, but its definitely worth it if there are DJ's and sh*t there you're familiar with. Gareth Emery, W&W, Above & Beyond and Kyau & Albert have played great sets every time I've seen them. EDM festivals are a lot of fun to get super pissed at. I think I went to Creamfields last, just drank a bottle of Absinth straight before going and 10 minutes before I left I did a free breathaliser out of interest and was blowing 0.1 nearly 10 hours after finishing the bottle and not drinking anything else. outrageous. Pardon me my dog wants something, he just touched my thigh.

Fvcking awesome. Sadly I don't know anyone interested in even listening to the music, and coming from the northeast United States there's no way I'd be able to find a solid EDM festival. Our festivals are filled with third-rate pop artists and country-rock stars and it costs ninety bones to hit up a show. Then again we got MDF to make up for all the lame.

I pretty much listen to anything as long as it's good but don't really enjoy rap or country all that much.

The only kind of music I really can't stand to listen to for very long is heavy metal.

I think most people listen to a wide range of genres. In fact, people who know less about music and just look for whatever happens to catch their ear are often much more open-minded about music (in my experience) than those who claim to be music experts, or what would popularly be referred to as an "elitist".

I personally will listen to almost anything that sounds good to me. I do draw the line somewhere, but it's typically where talent ends and talentless begins.
