Making a good post is important if you want to have a solid fence. If your post isn't set properly, your fence will not hold. It needs to withstand the environment. This means it must withstand the pressure of wind, rain, hurricanes, angry neighbors, and pesky wildlife creatures.
Most posts are made out of wood, but there are also metal ones. Most of them are 4x4 but 6x6 is also semi-popular.
Steps...
1. First dig a hole. Do not dig a hole to your own grave, but a hole that's deep enough for your post to hold. Your hole should be half the length that extends over the ground.
2. Put your post in. Make sure it's centered.
3. Fill your hole back up.
4. ????
5. Profit!
The same can also apply for making polls, I mean poles. Poles are very important, but you probably won't need one unless you want to install some lights or some electric wires or something. Maybe you even want a lookout or a sniper's overlook. If so, have fun!
