Critics and reviewers I've been talking to have been giving it anywhere between 2-3 stars (5/10). Â I haven't listened to it, but from people whose opinion I actually care to listen to, it doesn't seem like it's a very good album and it's just riding the softer end of the recently successful 'harshly produced' electronic hip hop scene.
I found MBDTF to be a five or a six out of ten myself, so I'm not sure how I'll enjoy this one.Â

Hm, Pitchfork gave it a 9.5/10. Pitchfork also claims that Wolves In The Throne Room is amazing, Pallbearer's latest was extreme album of 2012, that the last two Suffocation albums weren't awful, and that Bon Iver is more than just pandering garbage. Some of their reviews also have erroneous remarks where they confuse albums with others, and their writing is masturbatory to an extent where the actual content of an album is hardly discussed. It's rare to find anything good on that site. It's not just Pitchfork, the album has an average of 85 on Metacritic which is damn good. I'm not saying "lol you're wrong if you don't like this" but I don't really understand your "reviewers and critics are all giving this 5/10s" part of your post because it's just not true

Hm, Pitchfork gave it a 9.5/10. Sorry Pitchfork seems to always be some what predictable to me. Depending on the name I feel as if Pitchfork automatically gives it a good score. I like allmusic for reviews personally.
Allmusic gave it a 4/5 I don't really like any specific place for reviews, I use RateYourMusic.com as a guide more than any music publication. Even RYM has some problems though

I thought it was ambitious but a lot of tracks are meh.
New Slaves is clearly the best song. Â We all thought we were getting a new age political Kanye when that song dropped, and boy we couldn't be any more off.
Dark Fantasy album is better, followed by Graduation, and then it gets debatable. Â But no Yeezus isn't in my top 3..
Its a love or hate album for most people, I think it's just alright.

i gave it another listen too, yeah i just don't like it cept 3 songs on the whole album. This really isn't something I would listen to again and I respect Kanye for trying something different. But this album just felt sloppy and take ego tripping on a whole nother level.

It is very true. I think you missed the part where I said "critics and reviewers I care about." Generally these people run smaller websites, personal blogs, or work in the music industry themselves. If the site is listed on Metacritic, which is one of the most hilariously bad aggregates for music, then it's likely that I'm going to ignore it. Too often is popular music journalism subject to bias towards image rather than sound.

Lyrics don't make up everything in hip-hop. I mean look at Dr. Dre's The Chronic or as GraySeal and I mentioned Sir Lucious Leftfoot the lyrics aren't that meaningful or deep. Yet the albums are great.
