Hulu was cool at first, but then I started using it less. They removed some of the good films while leaving the bad ones up, and they only have latest episodes from TV up for like a few weeks and then they're removed. Unless they change a lot of things, it's not worth paying for imo.
Hulu will die if it does that. Seriously, I don't think they understand that people go to their site to watch tv shows because it's free, not because they're starved for tv.

And considering that FOX, ABC, NBC etc... usually put up full episodes on their own site for free.
The only way it would be worth it is if they:
1. Get rid of the ads
2. Put all of the seasons on
3. Have more selection
4. Have better movies
5. Have Showtime, HBO and other channels
6. Don't make it expensive
AW HELL NAW
(Because I was too lazy to put up the Will Smith "AW HELL NAW".gif)

I see your Will Smith and raise you one President.

Even then I don't know about that. Most of my Hulu viewership is watching shows that I couldn't catch during the week, but if this happens those networks are basically turning away my business. The rest is becauseI can't afford cable or to buy full seasons, so why would I pay money for Hulu each month when I could spend it on a box set instead and watch those episodes any time I want? And then on top of that I could just as easily renew my Netflix and get a better selection of shows and movies plus the ability to rent movies through the mail. If Hulu does this they're dead, and good riddance to them. It was a very good idea, but if they're going to get stingy then I say let them fail. One thing I disagree with with the article, it says Hulu shows programs for free, it doesn't. We watch advertisments, we're paying to watch. Hulu is set up to generate more advertising revenue than TV can bring in alone, charging for it completely defeats the point and they're going to end up throwing away more ad revenue than they're going to be able to make up for in fee revenue.

B-, but we already appreciate the value!

Right, only it's not a free model, we pay by watching the advertisments. Putting up content without ads would be a free model.
I'll pay if it's worth it, but in it's current state it's not worth much.
let me compare Hulu to a pay service like netflix.
First off netflix lets me stream using my 360 on my 40 inch. I've tried streaming hulu using tversity, but the framerate sucks, and I'm also suppose to pay an extra $20 for the pro version of tversity. While netflix TV streaming options might not be readily available to everybody they are actually available.
Now when I'm streaming netflix I rarely buffer... sure my quality changes now and then, but I rarely buffer. W/ hulu I hit a 10 sec buffer about 4 or 5 times a show.
When it comes to content hulu offers a couple of shows, but only for a limited time, and it's content is very inconsistant. Netflix offers a little less w/ new tv shows, but offers much more when it comes to film. Also they have the added bonus of almost every DVD released available to me the next day (which to me is worth $15 anyway).
Lastly more, and more of Hulu's content is already on the net from network sites... so unless that content gets removed I don't see what hulu offers that's special enough to pay for it. At least w/ a lot of netflix's instant media it's stuff you can't find just anywhere (Like season 4 of the office).
To avoid not starting another thread i'll just bump this one. Hulu needs to take a page from the porn industry http://blogs.bnet.com/intercom/?p=2858&tag=main;content and keep it the way it is. Asking people to pay for stuff on the internet simply doesn't work.
and that would be the end of hulu for me and millions of others i'm sure.
although if it was cheap, less that 10 bucks a month, and had more content and no commercials then i would consider it because i do have a HTPC.
but in it's current state it's not work paying for.
That statement doesn't make any sense at all. Chase Carey must be on drugs.I think a free model is a very difficult way to capture the value of our content. I think what we need to do is deliver that content to consumers in a way where they will appreciate the value.
Charging people for what's mostly free, over the air broadcast TV and at best, basic cable, is pretty lame. It's not like they have any of the really good stuff on TV from HBO or Showtime, like Dexter.
I like Hulu, but I've always found it to be a glitchy, stutter fest. Every second or third video I watch on there has some kind of issue with playback, or maybe even freezes half way through.
If they don't understand that people only use it because it's free and has fewer commercials, they're morons. This is going to flop. Hard.
