The next ice age will happen when it wants to happen. Human's have little to no influence over how the Earth's climate ebbs and flows between low and high temperatures. It was doing fine on its own long before we came along.foxhound_foxThat cleared the debate up for me. Thanks, Scientist foxhound_fox, PH.D.!

Well grab a massive flameshield. You're in OT and you just went against global warming.

It can be assumed that all of this talk of global warming is just people trying to make themselves feel important.

But, Global warming is a joke.... The hotter the planet gets the sooner we are going to see and Ice age due to slowing Ocean current. Scientist are ******* stupid :)
This planet will do what it wants when it wants. We humans are insignificant to it's overall plan!

Are you talking about me?If yes then no I'm really not trying to I just found this and posted it to see people's opinions. :/The next ice age will happen when it wants to happen. It's not often that Iagree with someone on OT. Kudos.

Just try not to take your filthy city habits into the rural areas and the world will be just fine.
How are you making the argument that the carbon footprint of rural residents is less than that of urban residents?[QUOTE="foxhound_fox"]Human'sEngrish_Major

How are you making the argument that the carbon footprint of rural residents is less than that of urban residents?
Necrifer
The fact that rurals areas aren't crowded smoggy sh*tholes.
That's because they contain millions of people. I'm talking per capita. On average, the carbon footprint of an urban dweller is less than that of people who do not live in dense areas. Density is the solution.Scientists believe the next big ice age could be delayed for years thanks to human carbon emissions. FMAB_GTO
1500 years? who cares? everyone I ever saw or knew would already be dead.

Nope. More trees is.
And your answer is living in the suburbs or rural areas, where we have to destroy all the trees for development? My statements are still correct. All I will say is as soon as green products can offer benefits to me that are worth my money I'll start buying them. Until then, I won't.
It's a matter of economics. Green products are clearly uneconomical. We have made great strides into making them economical but they still are a long way off.
If the demand is is there the products will emerge. The demand is not there yet.

Engrish_Major
The cause and solution are completely different. I said the cause is cities. That does not mean that rural areas are the solution.
I think that one of the things we have to change about the system we live in is to stop making decisions based on what the market dictates and more on what ethical (both for humans and for the environment) principles dictate. I think that could solve many many problems out there, if we just live by the rules of the market, both we and this planet are doomed IMO.All I will say is as soon as green products can offer benefits to me that are worth my money I'll start buying them. Until then, I won't.

Cities are not the cause. Cities are the solution.[QUOTE="Engrish_Major"]
Cities are not the cause. Cities are the solution.

Cities of huts, sure.
? What do you think causes more harm to the environment? Dense housing (apartments, townhomes, etc), or massive, sprawling single family homes with multi-car garages?[QUOTE="horgen123"]Did you know that the time we live in now is considered an ice age? BranKetraI heard the opposite. We're actually nearing the peak of a warm period which are much shorter that cold periods, on average.Ice age implies the presence of extensive ice sheets in the northern and southern hemispheres. so by defintion we live in an ice age.

I'm still going with the scientists ;)Too my knowledge, warmer oceans means the salt rises to the top. Slowing the currents and causing deeper water to freeze. Unless the scientist have changed their mind. (again)
All I can say is as humans we know nearly **** all about anything. Most of us think a book written 2000 years ago is correct. When Galileo discovered that Jupiter had moons revoling around it and the eath was not the only thing that things reveoled around the church made him spend the last 9 years of his life under house arrest.
Why should I beleive the scientist because they're changing their minds again!
Not sure I understand your point - you seem to be grouping yourself with people who denied Galileo's findings.Too my knowledge, warmer oceans means the salt rises to the top. Slowing the currents and causing deeper water to freeze. Unless the scientist have changed their mind. (again)

You are right... Ice age will happen when it wants to happen...
According to my scientists... (lol not the payed son of a *beep*s that tell lies)
Sun is getting warmer and THATS why all of the planets.. YES all of the planets are gettin a bit warmer....
BUT THERE IS NO GLOBAL WARMING CAUSED BY - A - MAAAN...
SURRRR-PRISED?!! Matthew-first
Except it isn't on ALL the planets and the role of the Sun for the warming is considered minimal by most scientists. http://www.livescience.com/1349-sun-blamed-warming-earth-worlds.html

Where in the **** did you get that from. The last thing I'd ever believe is that a god created this world.

global Warming= Ice age..... I thought the scientist agreed on that years ago.. Now they think it will be delayed... I'm more confused now if I believed in god!
That's all I can gather from your statement about Galileo. I really don't know what you were talking about there.Where in the **** did you get that from. The last thing I'd ever believe is that a god created this world.

What I mean is, People will follow what they believe. Gods or Scientist. I've gathered that a warmer planet will make the oceans start to freeze. Now I'm being told that a warmer planet will delay an Ice Age. "Can't these Scientist make up their minds" is where I'm coming from.

So you'd rather have a dogma that everyone sticks to blindly, where they can ignore evidence that is brought to light? Please Log In to post.
