When people stand still on escalators. What the hell? Get your lazy legs walking! Escalators are supposed to speed up the transition from one floor to another. It's not suppose to be a resting ground! Move it!

I created the poll the way it is because I know all of you will agree with me.

Um no it doesn't bother me and I stand on escalators. In fact I rarely ever see anyone walk on one as they just get on wait for the thing to be over with and walk off. I also stand on moving walkways though I only know of a few of those I have been on

Therer's a fear of falling when the feet move and since the treads are filled with pain it's best not to bother.

You dont have an option that opposes yours!!!!

But anyway, why should it piss you off? Its supposed to be moving, if it was meant to walk up, then they wouldve made stairs in place of it.

Oh please. Lazy legs? Unless you're taking the stairs you have no room to talk. I'm an escalator stander and when I do try to walk quickly up it, I feel slightly off balance.

PS nice poll options there. :P

I usually move.

Reminds me of when my dad told me a story about when he was younger, he stood on an escalator, then he got his Vans slip on ate by it, because he didn't walk off on time. :P

I can't agree, walking up the escalator is much quicker and gets you from A to B at a greater rate. Now I can understand if it says "Stand right walk left" and people stand on the right, but when the completely ignore the sign is when I get angry.

It MAYBE saves you what...2-3 seconds? Again the escalator is for standing. If you want to walk, take the stairs.

The escalator thing isn't that big of a deal. But the moving walkways you find in a airport however, are another story. I initially thought that they were there to move faster to baggage claim, your proper gate, etc. by walking on them in addition to having them move on their own. Instead they stand thereas ifthey're on a display window or something, meanwhile I'm trying to be polite as possible to get ahead of them. That's just frigging annoying.

In larger airports where you have to walk forever and ever to get to your gate, I think standing on those (off to the side if possible) is fair.

I still can't agree, it saves far more time than that walking up the escalator, especially when there are many people taking it like in a train station. Those 5-10 saved could result in me catching the light crossing the street and saving me even more time.

Wow, I don't think your sig could possibly be more pertinent to this discussion.

"Ever notice that anyone going slower than you is an idiot, but anyone going faster is a maniac?"

-George Carlin

Hallenbeck77

Anyway. I usually walk on both, but I don't get irritated over those who don't. I think most who do get irritated would be wise to contemplate that quote. One man rushing ahead to save time can be seen by others as being rude, and one man taking his time can be seen as inconsiderate by the first.

No I think the escalator's purpose is to not waste energy advancing to another floor. If you got a problem with that, just go overtake :P

And when I politely ask to pass through with nothing more than a backpack, they give me a nasty look as if I farted on their breakfast.

I almost always move if I can. Standing still makes me feel impatient like what the hell am I waiting for. When I used escalators the most was when I went to university downtown, and I was always had good reason to hurry. Usually in Toronto standers are on the right. Occasionally you do get renegades and fat people though. What is usually more trouble is slow groups of people who take up the whole sidewalk. :x

When people stand still on escalators. What the hell? Get your lazy legs walking! Escalators are supposed to speed up the transition from one floor to another. It's not suppose to be a resting ground! Move it!

I created the poll the way it is because I know all of you will agree with me.

cd_rom

I tend to agree. It's so stupid, there was an incident in an Irish shopping centre a few years ago where the power went out. People were stuck on the escalators for hours.

There should be one side the escalator where people walk and another side where they stand. That way everybody's happy. :)
