Perhaps you didn't notice, but escalators are actually moving staircases.

If you don't want to walk or stand to the side so that people can pass you, find yourself a damn elevator.

Even if they did that, I'd have no problem with it. To be fair, there are those who're polite to do so. Meanwhile, you have some knucklehead with enough bags to open their own traveling flea market blocking the asile. And when I politely ask to pass through with nothing more than a backpack, they give me a nasty look as if I farted on their breakfast.

Japan has a pretty cool system. People on the left half of the escalator stand, and the right side is reserved for the walkers.

That's one of the things I remember liking over there.

Wow come to think of it, I havent been on an escalator for years and years, but i used to mainly stand on them, sorry. if everyone else was moving i would too to get out of their way.

Um no it doesn't bother me and I stand on escalators. In fact I rarely ever see anyone walk on one as they just get on wait for the thing to be over with and walk off. I also stand on moving walkways though I only know of a few of those I have been on

I also hate the idea of those walking escalator things, I mean you might as well just walk, and besides only snooty places and airports have them.

If I ever use an escalator, I generally move on them if no one blocks the way.

Kinda bothers me if I can't move on ahead of them.

You dont have an option that opposes yours!!!!

But anyway, why should it piss you off? Its supposed to be moving, if it was meant to walk up, then they wouldve made stairs in place of it.

i understand ppl standing on the right side and leaving room for ppl that wanna walk on the left. but its annoyin when someone stands on the left side next to someone on the right side, and effectively blocks ur way! Prolly looks like more ppl stand than walk cuz all the ppl that walk are already at the top/bottom!

The only time I use escalators is the mall because my mall doesnt have stairs, and yes I just stand there if you want to get to the second floor then just wait. Seriously it takes like 15 seconds.
