The Old Trilogy looks WAY better! Episode 4's final deathstar battle was like 3D and you could tell who was who, there was an X-Wing, Y-Wing, and TieFighter.

The New Star Wars, you can't tell what's going on, there's too many random ships.

And the Lightsabers looked better in the Old Trilogy. It had weight, and they actually parry'd. The new star wars lightsaber fights look like dance routines

The lightsaber fights in the newer ones are so far ahead of the old ones that it shouldn't be brought up.

You must be joking.

The New Star Wars lightsaber fights look like dance routines and when you hit the other saber, it doesn't parry, it just touches like nothing happened.

Dude if you can't tell the difference between Clone/Storm troopers and DROIDS, and Star destroyers and those big cyllinder type Trade Federation ships... then that's your problem.

wow, but the camera angles were far far worse in the new ones. You could actually tell who was the winning the fight in the Old Trilogy. And there was parrying. The new star wars has no parrying

So? The fights were epic with the help of computers, and seeing Yoda fight was awesome imo.

Think of it this way. The reason the jedi fight almost like they are "dancing" is because the Jedi were in their prime and had the masters/other jedi to teach it to them. All Luke had was Old Kenobi and Yoda, who neither of them could have been able to teach him what the Jedi's of the Old Republic would have learnt in terms of saber combat. Plus Vader is hindered by his condition, thus unable to fight as he did as Anakin. That would probably explain why the combat in the OT felt more heavy and less flamboyant than that of the prequels.

I enjoyed watching the Old Ben Vader fight more, because the dialog was much better, and watching the Grievous fight made me think "Wow, he really sucks. He has four lightsabers, and he can't beat Obi-Wan, who only has one. Hmmmm..."

Graphically speaking, the new one looked better.

The new trilogy does look better from the visual effects to all the battles whether they take place in the land, in the air or between to powerful people using light sabers. Still the old trilogy is far better because when it comes to movies acting, script, plot and dialogue are far more important than visual effects.

It is better in tension and actual atmosphere, which is why I prefer it. But you can't deny the prequel's varied styles of saber combat.

I meant the parrying, when you hit, nothing happens in the new star wars

the old trilogy, if you swung harder, you would knock back the opponent

I thought the fight scene in the Phantom Menace was pretty awesome.

Yeah, it was, but it can't TOUCH the Luke vs Vader scene at the end of Return of the Jedi. The only thing that comes close to it in the prequel trilogy is Obi-Wan vs. Anakin at the end of Revenge.

The prequel trilogy isn't horrible, and in terms of looks, it obviously wins due to modern special effects, but the originals are the best. And I love Return of the Jedi. I don't care if people thought it sucked. It was awesome.

The problem with the prequel trilogy was the acting. OH GOD, THE ACTING. Now, with the exception of Harrison Ford and Alec Guinness (and James Earl Jones' voice acting), the acting in the first trilogy wasn't the best. But Mark Hammil destroys Hayden Christensen in every way. Mark Hammil could at least emote and look genuine. Christensen... well, the only thing he was good at was looking pissed.

definatley, grievous fight didn't look real at all

The Grevious fight was so lame, if you watch the cartoon series called the Clone Wars (which was awesome, I'm talking about about the ones that aired on Cartoon Network a while back) Grevious was made out to be a badass that could weild five lightsabers at once while standing on one leg, and could hold off more than five fully trained Jedi at once, it was so lame how Obi-Wan just cut off two of his arms like it was nothing.

Lightsaber combat doesn't work like normal swordfighting. The emphasis is not in "swinging harder." Look at the different forms used. For example, Obi-Wan's form, Soresu. It's a defensive stance. Then there's Dooku's form, Makashi. It's not supposed to look like you're exerting yourself, because the entire point of that form is not exerting yourself, but in using precision and elegance.

True but still, Grevious had four lightsabers, he could have easily just impailed Obi Wan with one while attacking him with the other three. The only redeming part of those movies was Ewan McGregor. I also didn't like how Lucas overused CGI, everything just looked too fake. In the origonals it was a hard to tell what was real and what was, and what was CGI (aside from the obvious laser beams and deathstar explosion)

I'm just wondering why there was such a huge gap between Episodes 4-6 and Episodes 1-3. Did they want to wait for the technology to get better or what? I mean, that was certainly a long wait. I was really young at the time when Episode 1 came out, and I don't know if I knew there was Episodes 4-6. Anyway, I did not like Episodes 1-3 when I first saw them that much. Maybe I would like them better now that I am older, but I'm not sure. For Episodes 4-6, I haven't watched them in an incredibly long time. I re-watched the other ones a few times because I own them, but 4-6 I saw maybe once each, and have never really had the desire to watch them again. I find that people typically overrated outdated movies from the 1980's (Halloween), so I doubt it's as good as anyone says. I mean, even the dialogue is pretty crappy from the movies I've seen from that time period.

Well I disagree with your rationales for why the old trilogy is better, but who in the world had the audacity to say that the new trilogy was better? The old was OBVIOUSLY leaps and bounds beyond the new one. The new trilogy had horrid dialogue and acting. That's basically a proven fact... lol

Eh. The original trilogy wasn't originally called "Episodes 4-6." They just changed that a few years before Episode I came out.

Ugh, don't get me started with the acting with star wars 1-3.

It was worse than eating poop, then eating more poop, while at the dentist who is trying to clean your teeth with that little sucky straw they put in your mouth.

That is how bad it is.

Episodes 4-6 didn't start out as 4-6 the were just A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi, it wasn't utnil after it was announced that Lucas was going to make prequels did the numbers get involved.

I completely agree with this. It was a very bleak time for the Jedi when Luke came of age. Yodawas basically senile when he was teachingSkywalker the ways of the Force, and Kenobi definitely wasnt in his prime either. You have to look past the looks of it all, and realize that theres a time and place for everyone. It just wouldnt make sense if Luke was a prodigy with the Saber, if you really think about it.
